My favorite number is ten.
  My best friend always liked nine
  because it felt like the top.
  Untouchable. Safe.
  But I think ten is better.
Ten means... you fall off the edge.
  You go one step past the limit
  and land somewhere new.

  It’s not about how high you get.
  It’s about coming back.
  Coming home.
They liked that about ten.
  That you could fall,
  and still have a next time.
  Nine was still their favorite, though.
  Because it always felt like an ending.
  But reaching an ending doesn't mean we can't keep walking.
That's why ten is my favorite.
  Not because we started over,
  but because we can start again.

Maybe next time,
  we’ll count to ten together.
