SDK launched onto the scene earlier this year with the release of their first project - What They Want. With a sumptuous blend of heady melodies and signature vocal hooks, the Vancouver-based duo’s debut on TOR rested perfectly at the centerpoint of underground and familiar. As we step into winter’s grasp, we’ve revisited the project with a revamped touch from two of the scene’s finest; we present What They Want (The Remixes).

Armen Miran is a vital pillar of the deep & melodic scene. With his distinct blend of organic folk tones atop powerful electronica, he’s the godfather of Armenian deep house. Through releases on his own imprint Hoomidas, he’s inspired so many modern producers. We enamoured to welcome him to XYZ, as he whisks What They Want in classic style. Playful house drums get us moving, while ominous synthetics envelop the groove. The vocal chops ebb too and fro throughout the arrangement, with big dancefloor moment’s a-plenty within this Armen masterclass.

Argentina’s invigorating pairing of Nacho Varela & Cruz Vittor has proven illustrious in recent times. They’ve been producing some of the most vivacious & sought-after remixes and edits on the planet, alongside original material on Anjunadeep and Shanti Moscow Radio. The duo comes through again as they twist What They Want to fit their scintillating sound. Swirling melodics stir us into the groove, as a punchy bassline ignites the vibe. A luscious build takes things to another level, offering yet another Nacho & Cruz weapon for the DJs amongst us.

Since its debut in 2017, Damian Lazarus’ annual ‘SPIRITS’ series on Crosstown Rebels has been a beacon for breakthrough artists, setting the label’s agenda for the year ahead. The sixth instalment in February is another meticulously curated lineup with ‘SPIRITS VI’ featuring a blend of new and recognisable talents, including Lauren Lane, Cristina Lazic, Iñigo Vontier, AJ Christou and many more.

London-based talent Cameron Jack kicks off what looks set to be a breakout year with ‘The Vision’, a bubbly and tropical cut with cosmic synths and loose, jumbled rhythms. Chris Bowl then brings his emotional style to the deep, rolling beats and fresh melodies of ‘Silent Plain’, while NY-born, LA-based house tastemaker Lauren Lane layers in smoky pads and tender whispers to her sublime deep house cut, ‘Fair Game.’ Next, German talent and Degree Records head Marc Lenz brings darker vibes to his track ‘People Are People’, while Rebellion artist Cristina Lazic and previous Lazarus collaborator Leia Contois combine for the alluring vocal soul and gritty minimal drums of ‘So Deep’.

Mexican Iñigo Vontier is a pioneer in his homeland after crafting a global reputation, and his twisted synths, shiny textures and steely drums on ‘That Trippy Sound’ prove why as they work you into a trance. Next is influential Manchester-based DJ/producer AJ Christou, who has released on the likes of Hot Creations and Cuttin’ Headz. His track ‘Back & Forth’ brings an infectious groove with plenty of flair and catchy drum funk, before TMPLE shuts things down with the deft, airy grooves and floating bass of ‘The Girl In The Room’, complete with its tender male vocals.

At the forefront of electronic innovation, Crosstown Rebels stands as a pivotal platform and record label, reflecting the genre’s diversity and housing an impressive roster that includes renowned artists and household names like Art Department, Maceo Plex, and Jamie Jones. With sub-labels Rebellion and Secret Teachings in tow, the imprint consistently and continuously expands its musical canvas, creating an immersive landscape for leading and emerging talents to thrive.

Coming at you with his very first release on Hive Audio is SOAME, a Zurich-based producer who has been picking up traction releasewise in the past three or four years despite being a veteran in the Swiss party scene in which he's been actively involved in for way more than a decade. For his label debut we see SOAME teaming up with British vocalist Jinadu, a creative force who's been working alongside masters like Kirk DiGiorgio, Jimpster, Fred Everything and many others in the past.

Their original version of „Sun“ is an immaculate amalgamation of deep, athmospheric, yet sparse TechHouse and captivating, soulful and touching, partly even longing vocals, predestined to stand out as unquestioned highlight in every groove-bound DJ set for now and an ongoing eternity being an instant classic that is about to stand the test of time.

On remix duties for „Sun“ is Dario D'Attis, a longtime friend and staple within the Hive Audio roster. His take on the original keeps track of the deep, soulful vibe whilst, adds a new rolling bassline motif and a swinging, hyper-seductive groove that provides a little more of a pump for buzzing dancefloors and crowds already floating a few inches above the ground.

Finally SOAME delivers his own personal re-lick of „Sun“ with his so-called 'Gypsy Mix'. Taking on another angle we see the track being transferred into a new, still deep, yet partly even balearic context, bringing on panoramic arrangements touched by big time melancholia and the beauty of a sinking sun turning into a fireball whilst touching the endless horizon and the calm swell inherent to big ocean waters.

2019 was a massive musical year for Khen. He unleashed multiple projects that will be hammered on dance floors around the globe for the foreseeable future.
