Pacific Rim is as beloved as it is bc of what genre its from. It is an excellent kaiju flick. If someone didnt give a fuck about giant monsters and robots fighting then i would definitely not recommend Pacific Rim to them. Me I fucking loved it lol and my favv film is Brokeback Mtn if that means anything

last thing i'll add: for me and many folks that love kaiju films every scene that doesnt contain big monster fights is more lightly regarded than it would be in another non kaiju film. We're all here for the big fights
