I'll chime in, I don't think this 'metabolic' and constantly changing world is unique to capitalism. IMO it's a byproduct of the anthropocene era, and as a species will continue into a hypothetical socialist future. Presumably the decision making would be better but we'll still be terraforming. The selling shares of the self was the basis of an enjoyable sci-fi book called the "Unincorporated Man" by a conservative author.
