About to geek out on some music history here, but the Cowboy Carter album title is a reference to the Carter Family. The Carters were a white folk band from the 20s who traveled around Virginia harvesting songs and sounds from Black communities and are known as “The First Family of Country Music.” AP Carter traveled with a musician named Lesley Riddle, who composed/transmitted songs for the Carters and also taught them his guitar picking techniques. Riddle taught Maybelle Carter what would later be known as the Carter Scratch.  Cowboy Carter is a continuation of the Renaissance album, so both are reclamations of music genres/styles pioneered by Black people and issuing credit back to those artists. Even the latest album promo shots are inspired by Black rodeo queens and zydeco music, so all of the things you guys are asking of her, she’s giving, you just have to look into it a lil.

At the same time, multiple witnesses reported a number of compelling UFO sightings, leaving behind physical evidence bearing the Ummite symbol. 
This contact was to become a decades-long affair that convinced multiple esteemed scientists, subverted Franco regime censorship, and left 1300 pages of alien writings to be poured over and debated for a generation. It also left destruction and misery in its wake, with at least two dangerous cults inspired by the lore. One may still be active to this day.

Cold War 2: US officials call to overthrow China's gov't, expand military budget to $1.4 trillion

In the late 19th century a Frenchman pulled off one of the greatest hoaxes of all time and inspired countless conspiracy theories about Freemasonry that still circulate today.  The man, who went by the pseudonym Leo Taxil, started his career by publishing several texts smearing the Pope and the Catholic Church. But then he switched sides and claimed he converted to Catholicism. To prove his devotion he started publishing anti-Masonic texts. These new works included wild stories about a secret satanic sect with freemasonry called Palladism. Despite the fact that these stories are far beyond the limits of believability, they were taken seriously by the Catholic Church. Taxil finally admitted that his multiple books about satanism in Freemasonry were all part of an elaborate, 12-year-long-hoax.

In part 1 of this series, we explore the childhood of “Leo Taxil,” his hoaxes in France and Switzerland, and the anti-Church writings that forced him to fend off lawsuits and criminal charges.

In part 2, we’ll get into the thousands of pages he wrote about secret satanism in Freemasonry, how the public swallowed these stories up, and his dramatic confession that it was all a lie.
