Octave One's set for us last year was phenomenal; the energy, setting and metronomic head twists made it a no-brainer for inclusion in our Best of 2014. Seven tracks from Moscow made it onto their new LP, due May 26th, of which "Afterglow" was arguably the strongest.
Much like the towering behemoth of "Blackwater", it's a synergy of styles; dozens of boxes chattering away to one another in harmony. Somehow the track manages to be both flinty hard and yet shimmering, the lead curdled and yet crystal-clear. It's dancefloor TNT, an emphatic return from the brothers Burden. Burn It Down indeed.

Off the back of his debut Arc EP, Kamera's second voyage on Erol Alkan's Phantasy Sound label continues to expand his "visionary take on modern electronica." It comes in the form of Ventoux – a four-track EP reflecting back on the producer's own experiences of cycling Mont Ventoux, the gruelling 'Beast of Provence' mountain range in France, and providing the name of his most concise and intriguing opus yet. Title track "Ventoux" resonates long after the closing chords have faded. It stands out in poignancy compared to the rhythmic emphasis of the three cuts surrounding it. Chiming synths sustain the melody that loops dreamily throughout, allowing yourself to momentarily drift off into the open soundscape Kamera has painted. Ventoux blends the physical and cerebral with ease, in a sound that is both "refreshingly futurist, yet completely timeless."

Ventoux drops on 29th January 2016.

Premiere : The Burrell Connection - Chasing Space

Innovative duo Catz 'n Dogz have payed homage to the iconic Marlena Shaw vocal from 'Woman Of The Ghetto' by remixing the track with hard-hitting rhythm and a welcomed dose of acid.

In their own words, Catz 'n Dogz describe how the vocal is easily recognizable due to the St.Germain record ‘Rose Rouge’, but some may not be aware that the original hook is from a live performance by Marlene Shaw. 

“It’s been sampled by a lot of other people like Bob Sinclar, Grandmaster Flash and the famous 90s hit from Blue Boy. We have a lot of memories with this vocal because we were growing up in the 90s. That’s why we decided to do our take on this one. The first time we played it on a big festival we were shocked how well it works… That’s why we decided to release it officially."

Detroit duo Floorplan, formed by techno pioneer Robert Hood and his daughter Lyric Hood, put their spin on Sophie Lloyd’s Classic anthem ‘Calling Out’ along with New York house legend Danny Krivit in this unmissable remix package. Sophie produced ‘Calling Out’ in a dreary January as an antidote to the pervading doom and gloom of the news, summoning the power of the most joy-filled sound of all, gospel. The track radiates all the live atmosphere of gospel worship in mid flow, with soul trio Dames Brown bringing the authenticity. Floorplan’s Revival Mix singles out the piano and organ riffs with Hood’s hometown influences always apparent. HOMAGE returns for their fourth release with the debut EP from Irish playboy KETTAMA. The Galway native is quickly becoming Ireland's most exciting electronic music name, known for his hard-hitting tracks laced with old school samples and classic rave sounds. PREMIERE: KETTAMA - KILT [Homage]

After a 9 month hiatus, Diynamic Music returns with the 12th edition of its famed “Four To The Floor” EPs. The label’s very own various artist series, which is always comprised of four dancefloor-oriented tracks that have one special quality in common: they have all been heavily road tested and certified by label boss Solomun on his countless gigs all over the world. 

Opening the record is “Monster” by Matthew Dear, his personal ode to the kickdrum. His eldritch voice almost turns into a haunting spiritual ceremony by singing eerie chants and entrancing phrases.
Up next is “Reaktor” by ELAX, an artist you have never heard from before, because it is a new moniker of Alex Ridha aka Boys Noize. This hypnotizing anthem would be the best possible soundtrack for the worst possible nuclear meltdown.
The third track comes from Denis Horvat and is called “Madness Of Many”, a gloomy melodic Techno track for those late hours at the club. 
Closing off the 12th instalment of “Four To The Floor” are Animal Picnic & Novakk with “Khokana”. Their contribution to the record is a driving and dreamy Deep House tune, certain to provide for closed eyes and raised hands on dancefloors everywhere.
