Anhalt EBM describes a late 2000s trend in electronic body music (EBM), where bands influenced by old school EBM pioneers Nitzer Ebb and DAF, present a minimalistic, energy-filled, and sometimes punk influenced electronic music style The subgenre's name stems from an area in Eastern Germany Saxony-Anhalt, due to strong community there. including both bands and fans. Up until 2010 the genre has been mostly dominated by German and Swedish bands, but during the last years bands from many other countries have emerged, spreading the genre across the world.

Anhalt EBM can be described as minimalist electronic music with an energy filled and tough masculine attitude. However, various variations of the genre have emerged, i.e. some Swedish bands have gone an entirely punk influenced style of EBM (Container 90, T.W.A.T., Stockholm Wrecking Crew). Otherwise, variations of straight forward, usually closer to the style of That Total Age album by Nitzer Ebb, minimalist bands with militarist (but non-politic) attitude are common (Spetsnaz, Ionic Vision, Orange Sector, and many others). Some bands have added more playful and catchy elements, drawing on some NDW influence as well (Sturm Café, Bodystyler).

Rotterdam-based Ofra is a record digger who loves to share her music always and anytime, whether it’s through an intimate listening radio show or a steamy nightclub set. A lover of Wave, New Beat, EBM and Electro, she also holds a special place for Punk and Shoegaze music. Over the years she has created her own rich music palette as a curator and DJ and in 2017 she co-founded the Rotterdam-based online radiostation Operator. Ofra’s eyes and ears are extra alert when curating programs to connect artists and music lovers. Besides, Ofra has started her own record label (Yarrow Ballet) and the first release will be out soon !

Dresden-based DJ and producer @AcidAdams collects four acid monsters, both from the glorious nineties and from a multi-layered present. The result is a record that dives deep into acid wonderland and bridges the gap between scene’s veterans and the new generation.

After Acid Adams discovered two forgotten acid tracks from the early nineties while digging for new music, the plan for this compilation slowly matured. While it was meant to be a tribute to every bird’s favorite genre, it shouldn’t be just a showcase for older tracks. Therefore, two new tracks were added to join the tracks by Nihilist and ADSX which have never been released on vinyl before. Each of the new productions is inspired by one of the older tracks, not in the sense of a remix or edit, but as a kind of homage to that particular squawking analog sound we all know and love. The energy and pace of these four unique tracks reaches from ambient to dance floor focused bangers.

According to the circumstances of scene and society at that time, the two older tracks were produced by (cis)men. That’s why, it was especially important to Acid Adams that the new tracks were produced by flinta* artists: softcoresoft is a DJ and producer from Canada, who has already released on Lobster Theremin. With Ida Bux, a native of Bautzen who now lives and works in Berlin, we connect the dots to a younger generation that is getting back into analog production setups. Both artists have in common that they have dealt extensively with the oldschool sound of the 90s in shaping their own sounds.

To round off the release properly, Saxony based illustrator frieedland has designed a matching sticker in the typical 90s style. And for those who can't get enough of acid: There's a digital bonus track by ADSX.

Lithuanian producer Subliminal makes a compelling debut on Distrito 91 with a six-track EP designed for the dancefloor.

Balancing between electro and techno, this release captures raw analog soundscapes.

Recorded in Kaunas studio, each track features saturated four-on-the-floor drums, resonant basslines, acid flavors and dreamy pads, all crafted using hardware instruments. Pure club-oriented material recorded in analog jam sessions.

Subliminal - Inside The Wave (D91010)

Alice in Flames has been on the road for many years both as an organiser and as a DJ in DIY contexts. In her sets, she usually moves between oldschool-, graffiti- and detroitelectro, 808 sounds and Robovoices as well as experimental music, dungeon synth and (synth)wave. She is part of Pracht Leipzig and together with FAQ she organises parties and concerts, has a show on Callshop Radio and a mix series, all under the name Disposable Time.
