“Alone (Anyway)” is another pandemic song. It was written during a time when I had drastically less work than usual, which caused a lot of the anxieties that I can usually hide from with work to come back full-force. In it are some of the struggles of being a creative in our society, like having a healthy work-life balance or putting too much of your self-worth into how productive you’re being with your art. Since this time, I’ve been trying to get out of some of these thought loops, and writing it out was part of that process. In this worst-case scenario I’ve written, I’m hoping to remind artists and creatives to take care of themselves, even if our society doesn’t always encourage it.

Alone (Anyway)

“Less Traveled” is my “quarantine album”. It was made over the course of 2020-2021 and contains a lot of the existential and personal subject matter that was magnified in my life because of the pandemic. As much as I am excited to share the album with anyone who wants to listen, I am equally as excited to get these thoughts off of my chest. Releasing this album feels like my way of acknowledging these thoughts and struggles while hoping to relate to those who struggled similarly. Thank you for listening, and I hope I can help you heal a little as well.

“Away Again” is a song that I wrote when I was first adjusting to life in Atlanta. I felt like I was missing something despite everything being correct on paper, and felt a lot of guilt because of that. So, the lyrics deal with overcoming that feeling of sadness that still happens despite everything still being “right”. Even though “right” is so very far from how everything is right now, I think the message of coping and overcoming very much pertains to today’s world.
