In 1991 Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond (JAMS / KLF) or what ever they were calling themselves that week, went into the studio and told us that 'it's grim up North!'  Growing up at that time going to the raves and clubs located in the many towns and cities the record references was in some way a right of passage for my generation.
That track with its post punk sensibilities seemed to hitch a ride on the tailwinds of the UK's acid house revolution, working its way into Pete Tong's essential selection on Radio 1 some years later as I recall. Where on hearing it - the younger version of me was sold!
Fast forward 33 years, in a twist of fate, it's become more relevant than ever, as I'd cite this as one of my formative influences, as an artist. 
Embedded somewhere in its alchemical energy, that transcends borders and time, my original home town gets a mention, and that of my friend's being Skipton. Anyhow, both the 19th & 23rd were our respective birthdays  that week,  so this sonic fracture in time was made to mark the occasion, and in some way helps me give a nod back to a mate and my past in the UK's magnificent  North!
