This song tells the two stories of a teenage boy and girl who have been outcast in many ways in their lives, leading up to a life changing event for them both. The teenagers are a metaphor for people that have been excluded and more importantly misunderstood and unheard. I called the song ‘Sidelines’ as to me it’s the place where outcast people find themselves, literally or metaphorically.
