We're Coming Back!

Hosts Breanna, and Special Guest Amanda, discuss The Comfort Book by Matt Haig. This is a nonfiction title from the prolific fiction author that reads more like a journal than anything else. In it Haig makes note of positive and comforting quotes, memories, song quotes, philosophical quotes, and more as a point of comfort. Although the aim is to comfort, he doesn't back away from difficult topics, such as depression and anxieties.

Host Breanna, and special guests Carol and Amanda, discuss the first book in a steamy new series from the prolific romance author Gena Showalter. The Warlord is so much more than just a romance! There's warriors, people fighting to become Gods, scheming, two people falling in love...and did we mention the steaminess? The podcast is tame, but we recommend all listeners who decide to read this book be 18+! Thanks for listening!

Hosts Breanna, and Special Guest Francisco, discuss a graphic novel for the first time on the podcast! March is a trilogy, written by late Congressman John Lewis, about his time during the Civil Rights movement, starting when he was just a young teen. A thoughtful, beautiful curated, but most importantly truthful look at various harrowing and inspiring moments of the Civil Rights Movement and beyond.

Special guest today is Jenn Laredo! Jenn is the direct supervisor for the librarians at the library. Living the best of both worlds, she also purchases for our teen fiction collection, as well as being an avid reader of Young Adult fiction! On today's episosde we're chatting about Legendborn by Tracy Deonn, book one in a young adult fantasy series inspired by the tale of King Arthur. While inspired by King Arthur's tale, this book is full of twists and turns, and is an intense reimagining full of the author's unique imagination!

Special guest Viviana Cois is a polylingual, lover of older texsts! Almost finished acquired her master's degree, Viviana hopes to begin her journey to finding her dream job in Librarianship! Tune in this week to hear us talk about Viviana's recommendation, Berlin Childhood Around 1900 by Walter Benjamin, a somber yet beautiful memoir from an author whose live was filled with beautiful yet haunting reflection, as well as a treasure of intellectual ideas.

A book our patrons would be surprised the Librarians hadn't read before! Grace is our wonderful Children's Librarian, and Shawnte is our amazing latest addition to the Adult Librarian team!

Episode 29: WHERE is Dumbledore? (NYAL)

Today's special guest is Peter Gomez! Peter is one of the Senior Pages here at the library. He helps keep the building from falling apart! All materials are smoothly put back together, and the library is kept neat in large part due to him and the rest of the pages!

Today we're talking about the Remembrance of Earth's Past Trilogy by Cixin Liu (translated by Ken Liu), a sci-fi trilogy that will be hailed a classic for decades to come!

Today's VERY special guest is author Kyla Zhao! Today we're chatting with her about her debut novel The Fraud Squad! Kyla begin writing her fist book during her undergraduate years at Stanford, and had her book presented to publishes nearly right after graduating!

Tune in to find out how she got her writing start(writing on the fabulous high fashion life in Vogue Singapore, and other major publications), how she got her books published (she obtain a two-book deal as a debut author!), and what she has in store for her future and the writing world!
