Carol Procter grew up in Dedham, MA, and trained as a cellist at the Eastman School of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music where she got her B.M. ('63) and M.M. ('65). 

In the summer of 1965, she studied at the Tanglewood Music School on a Fromm Fellowship and joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra in the fall, giving up a Fulbright Scholarship in order to do so.

Carol spent a year ('69-'70) performing with the Japan Philharmonic on a BSO Exchange Program. She has also been to Haiti several times to perform and teach. She has performed many chamber music concerts as a cellist as well as a viola-da-gambist. She has performed as a soloist with the Boston Pops on numerous occasions.

Carol is an energy healer and Transformational Breath Facilitator.

She retired from the BSO in 2003 after 38 years of service and has become an ardent traveler and photographer. Carol has found a new outlet for her creative energies in making collages. She had her first show of both photographs and collages at the New England Conservatory of Music in May of 2008.
