Iliad Stone and the Monarchy is comprised of an eclectic group of talented musicians brought together to make the genre-bending music that defines them. Singer-songwriter Iliad Stone spearheads the group with gripping lyricism and a powerful voice. Electric guitarist, and pseudo-adopted brother is guitarist, Prince Parker who battles each song with guitar in hand until every tone and note is perfectly impactful. In Iliad‘s words he makes the songs actually sound like songs. The rhythm section is comprised of Adam “The Bee Guy” Barnes, bass player and brains of the operation, providing guidance and know how to make band members ideas come to life. On drums is the tireless Stephen ”Freddy” Cole who provides the long lost heartbeat to the music and the band.

Iliad is playing many local venues as she works on her first EP.

Iliad describes her music as follows: 

A lot of music has a landscape that it somewhat matches and when you’re in that place you can feel it. Grunge was written to the soggy gloom of Seattle, Delta Blues to the humid heat of the south, Rap in varying bustling cities. One of the reasons I’m so attracted to the Southern Gothic sound is that I can see it around me, it fits the landscape. Another part of me though loves the passion and drive behind more aggressive styles of music. So in my mind, when I play acoustic it fits into southern gothic, deep and heavy, but I also want that to transfer over to a more grungy sound. I want to sound as if grunge had been cultivated in the south. Rather than a rainy cool atmosphere I want something swealtering, intense, like the relentlessly hot and humid nights that I grew up with. To put it in sound terms, I want a heavy bass sound, both guitar and drums, almost tribal in sound and in simplistic intensity. When everything comes together I’d like it to rumble through your bones like the sound of thunder off of heat lighting.
