Ben Nicky, Greg Downey and Christian Burns’ stellar Anjunabeats single ‘Always’ receives an uplifting remix from ilan Bluestone’s Stoneblue alias.

Released in January 2022, ‘Always’ was first heard during Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy 450 set in London. Supported by A&B, Armin Van Buuren, KISS FM's Ben Malone and Amy Wiles, it marked the debut collaboration between established trance producers Ben Nicky and Greg Downey, and vocalist Christian Burns.

Ben Nicky is a global ambassador for the fastest, toughest styles of modern dance music. His touring schedule is as relentless as his sets, which slide seamlessly from vocal euphoria to industrial hardstyle and psychedelic trance.

Releasing music since 2009, you can find Ben on labels like Ultra, Mad Decent DimMak, Armada and Spinnin’ and in the record bags of MistaJam (BBC R1), Timmy Trumpet, Andrew Rayel, Armin van Buuren, Diplo. Ben Nicky’s soft spot for the classic sounds of Anjunabeats are no secret: his recent ASOT1000 set in Moscow featured several slices of Beats nostalgia.

Greg Downey is the owner of the ‘Skullduggery’ imprint, and has been releasing music since 2007, getting nods from Vandit, Spinnin’ Records, Kearnage, Who’s Afraid of 138 and FSOE. Greg is a regular on the trance circuit, recently spinning at Creamfields, Ministry of Sound, Dreamstate and Victoria Warehouse Manchester. His remix of Simon Patterson’s ‘Breath Again’ was a sleeper hit for fans of uplifting, vocal trance.

Christian Burns is a multi-platinum selling singer and songwriter who has collaborated with Tiesto, BT, Armin van Buuren, Benny Benassi and Anjunadeep’s Jody Wisternoff on 2020’s ‘The Spark’. No stranger to the charts, Christian’s band BBMak hit the UK Top 40 and the US Billboard Top 100. His most recent solo album, ‘Love Songs From Suburbia’, hit no.1 on iTunes in the U.S.

Inspired by his love of uplifting trance records, ilan Bluestone founded the Stoneblue alias in 2019. Teased online through his ‘anthem tests’, Stoneblue tracks have found their way into ilan’s sets – ‘Always’ (Stoneblue Remix) closed out his performance at ASOT1000, Poland in April 2022.

Above & Beyond return to the dancefloor with ‘Tranquility Base Vol. 1’, a collection of five heavy-hitting club records, calling back to their instrumental roots. 

The GRAMMY-nominated founders of Anjunabeats have been quiet of late. Following six months of studio hibernation after their sold-out Group Therapy 500 celebrations at Banc of California Stadium last October, Jono, Paavo and Tony have been busy working on their next extended project. Enter ‘Tranquility Base Vol. 1’, a collection of five heavy-hitting club records, calling back to their instrumental roots. 

Drawing inspiration from all areas of contemporary electronic music, ‘Tranquillity Base Vol. 1’ features five tracks debuted in front of 25,000 fans in Los Angeles last October; ranging from the rolling grooves of ‘Spin Off’, to the darker atmospheric techno of ‘VLEKNO’.
 
The name of the EP series references A&B’s beloved Tranquility Base alias, which was revered for its contribution to the trance genre, including iconic records such as ‘Surrender’, ‘Oceanic’ and ‘Razorfish’. The ‘Tranquility Base EP’ series showcases the current instrumental records firmly lodged in Jono, Paavo and Tony’s record boxes. 

“In the same way the quieter moments on our albums have always been a major part of Above & Beyond, the bigger dancefloor moments have also been a hallmark of our sound” says the trio.

The full 5-track EP, ‘Tranquility Base Vol. 1’, is available now across all platforms. 

Above & Beyond will headline The Gorge Amphitheatre on July 21-23 for the biggest iteration yet of their Group Therapy Weekender festival, alongside label stars from Anjunabeats, Anjunadeep and Reflections. Tickets are on sale now (aboveandbeyond.nu/gtw).
