Following the success of June’s “Don’t Know I’m Dead Or Not (feat. Chester Watson)” - with press from the likes of Clash, Brooklyn Vegan, Rolling Stone Italy, and radio support from BBC Radio 6 (Artist Spotlight) and Worldwide FM - the Italian-Tunisian wunderkind LNDFK returns to Bastard Jazz with a new single, “How Do We Know We’re Alive (feat. Pink Siifu).” 

Further honing her signature jazz-inflected, ethereal future soul sound, LNDFK’s stacked harmonies float above an arpeggiated synth line and glitchy percussion, before she whispers the song’s first verse. The beat builds to skittering hi-hats and a complex, Thundercat-esque (LNDFK has shared the stage with fellow Brainfeeder artist Kamasi Washington), bass line for the second verse, before LA alt-rap king Pink Siifu takes the helm, delivering fittingly abstract bars, replete with phonetically-dense wordplay. 

LNDFK is a singer and songwriter, born of two cultures – an Italian mother and Arab father. She grew up in Naples, away from her father, the Sahara, her homeland and traditions, which has helped nourish the desire to rediscover – through art – an engagement to her roots. Her music melts with jazz, neo-soul and hip-hop influences, filtered through her experiences and sensibility. 

Her first EP, "Lust Blue," was composed with the artistic production of Dario Bass and released by Feelin' Music; after that she released several singles that saw international radio support (BBC, NTS, Wordwide FM) and gained a massive audience on digital platforms. Together with her band, she toured around Europe sharing the stage with the likes of Kamasi Washington and Mndsgn, among others. Her last appearance on the stage was at the Primavera Sound Festival 2019 in Barcelona. 

“How Do We Know We’re Alive (feat. Pink Siifu)” is out on Brooklyn’s Bastard Jazz Recordings September 10th, ahead of an anticipated full-length project slated for early next year.

Originally born and raised in Los Angeles, Kris Bowers (@krisbowers) moved to New York City in 2006 to attend Juilliard where he earned a Bachelors and Masters degree in Jazz Performance with a concentration in Film Composition.  Kris has worked with artists such as José James, Aretha Franklin, Marcus Miller, and Q-Tip, and in 2011, Bowers won the Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition. Most recently, iTunes made Bowers one of their "New Artists to Watch in 2014." His new album Heroes + Misfits (Concord Jazz) is available now.

Earning stripes in music working for Honest Jon's Records, Sound Signature, Wildheart Recordings and Sounds Familiar, Ruby Savage also known to DJ as Kwasiba Savage is currently label manager at Brownswood. She regularly presents on Worldwide FM as well as co-hosts monthly NTS Radio show and club night ‘In Flames’ which explores the distinctive and infinitely varied grooves of post-punk music. Grounded in the roots of rhythm, Ruby passionately shares her love for the dance through genre-defying DJ sets.
