Mirrors and Windows is a term used in pedagogical circles to describe diverse representation in books, films, art, etc. A mirror refers to a book in which a child can see the self, and a window provides a portal into another experience. We (Laura Cornell and Nova Meurice) have borrowed the metaphor for our podcast, as our goal in creating it was to investigate the racial disparities in the Iowa City Community School District discipline data and current district action and to provide our analysis of some possible solutions.
