 When we first started working on Full Circle, we gave it the name "dark funk idea". Then, we had the idea of blending those samples from Sioux Nation drum singers, which we believe are a tribute to the First Nations who have lived on these beautiful lands of Americas. Here in Canada, the presence of First Nations culture is very important to our identity and to our systems of beliefs and values. The remix by Air Horse One is simply mind blowing, in our opinion.

Yoga, Meditation, and body-mind awareness have finally taken root in the West. People are becoming deeply passionate about their health and are diving in. And with this growth we’ve seen the emergence of a new genre of music that caters to this practice, with inspiring compositions from bands like Desert Dwellers. Altar record’s latest release is a hommage to this sound, and a chance for you to get back to your center and breath.

Yoga Temple is the result of a chance meeting between Astral Waves (aka DJ Zen) and the lovely and talented Aurelie Morgane (aka AEolia) at a festival in 2013. Struck by their common love of meditation, yoga, and beautiful open spaces, the two decided to team up at Altar headquarters. A magnificent view of the forest served as their principle inspiration, and helped give birth to this project which is set to be released around December 2015.

With track lengths that average twenty minutes, this is the perfect soundtrack for relaxation, letting go, giving or receiving a massage, yoga, meditation and just generally feeling great. The music is spiritually uplifting, warm and enveloping.

Aurelie plays several flutes including the Indian Bansuri. An experienced, expressive solo player, her proficiency allows her to tune in and completely improvise. DJ Zen takes care of the production side with pads and synthesizers, with lush sounds that unfold organically and give the listener an incredible sense of space. The compositions flow like a river, ever shifting, yet on course, allowing you to travel to places that you alone hold the key.

May you enjoy many blissful moments, and much happiness on your journey to your inner temple.

Fertil Discos, nóvel sello argentino con sede en Buenos Aires, presenta su más reciente compilación, dividida en dos volúmenes, con sonidos distinguidos en dos etapas del día: “Dia” y “Noche”.  En ellos se pueden apreciar los nuevos pasos de la corriente actual de artistas electrónicos influenciados por los sonidos y ritmos de Latinoamérica. 

El compilado propone un soundtrack ideal para atardeceres o amaneceres en islas desiertas, tomando inspiración de ritmos ancestrales, bajos electrónicos y producciones recientes con una mentalidad de  “música sin fronteras”.

Fertil discos is a newly born argentinean label, based in Buenos Aires. We are pleased to announce our most recent compilation, divided in two separate albums -one representing the Day, the other gathering Night sounds. Both records illustrate the new steps of the new wave of South America’s electronic artists, influenced by the sounds and rythms of our continent.

The compilation proposes you an ideal soundtrack for sunrises/sunsets on desert islands, drawing inspiration from ancient rhythms, electronic bass lines, and recent productions with a world music mindset.

Both volumes put together danceable songs like “Animal Estrella” (Pol Nada & El Remolón) and “Periferia” (Paisandoom); folktronic compositions like “Tejido” (Jin Yerei feat. Kona); slow techno songs like “Orobon” (Barda) and talented electronic compositions like “Dialogue” (Tomanka) and “Galata” (Santi) among other undiscovered gems.

"Whether old crackling vinyls or unpublished new discoveries- the main thing is happening, music gets under your skin. And sometimes, when a song makes you shudder with beauty and you close your eyes, you can see it, the supernova: the brief, bright flash of a star in all the colors of the universe".

Besides skillfully constructed mixes, he sometimes surprises us with edits and productions of his own.

The Olmec were the first great Mesoamerican civilization. The city of San Lorenzo (its original name has been lost to time) flourished around 1200-900 B.C. and was the first major city in ancient Mexico. 

The Olmecs were great traders, warriors and artists, and they developed writing systems and calendars which were perfected by later cultures. Other Mesoamerican cultures, such as the Aztecs and Maya, borrowed heavily from the Olmecs. 

Because the Olmec society went into decline two thousand years before the first Europeans arrived in the region, much of their culture has been lost. Nevertheless, diligent anthropologists and archaeologists continue to make great strides in understanding this lost culture.
