This was the first track The Rest of Us created, after Anna and later Rikard left their previous group Statemachine http://statemachine.com The lyrics of Juliet's curse is adapted to the song from Romeo and Juliet. The track begins with a long spoken words sampled from Homicide: Life on the Street TV show. The track evolves around a vocal sample from Arvo Pärt - Magnificat for Choir (1989)played back at a higher key and through a vocoder.

Juliet's Curse

This was the second track The Rest of Us created. The lyrics is the Anna's darkest, painful and personal. In the production we were trying to use sampled loops instead of programming drum machines. Johan Emmoth a.k.a Le - Prix helped https://soundcloud.com/le-prix in the production of Blackeye.


Blackeye

With Sister's Wish, we wanted to be closer to Anna's singer songwriter style. The track contains an acoustic guitar played by Anna, and a simple melody played on the piano, all on top of thick Nord Lead pad chords, and electronic beats processed through a heavy Ensonique DP-4 phaser.

Sister's Wish

Better Half and Me

This recording was done in the studio of Johan Emmoth. Johan, had this home HiFi-microphone from the 70s that we used to process the BnB-drums. The result is virtually without any bass in the beat.

Anna’s lyrics is very personal. The division between what we do and ought to do is also mirrored in the second half-tempo beat with (a lot of) bass. There is actually two songs in one song in this production.

Better Half And Me

In the Fall, was the last songs we made with The Rest of Us, in the fall of 1999. Anna's lyrics is as always both enigmatic and very personal. Ludvig Elblaus performed the muted trumpet http://ludvigelblaus.com

In the Fall

This is one of our favourite tracks of The Rest of Us. This song was written and performed by Anna Ponzio as a singer-songwriter song. Interestingly the best song and guitar performance came from Anna playing and singing at the same time. Rikard Vilhelm Lindell turned it into a drum-n-baseesque track and also played the flute by the end of the track. Johan Andersson a.k.a added the clap and the glittering  synthesiser 16th note tremolos.

All In My Room

The Rest of Us are the singer and songwriter Anna Ponzio, and the composer and producer Rikard Vilhelm Lindell. The music is created  during and highly influence by the late 90s such as Future Sound of London, Goldie, and Portishead. But the group aslo has roots in the electronic music of the 80s for instance Eurythmics and Depeche Mode. Anna and Rikard were initially members of http://statemachine.com and they started making music together as a reaction to leaving the group. The Rest of Us name came from the concept of The Other Two of New Order.
