But nobody answered the call
The lost their appeal (peal? the repeal?) over years 
and when we arrived the party was in full swing 
they were barreling out the covers like nobodys business
from Hallelujah to Zombie
a Womans Heart to Wonderwall

well, the waifs and strays , they got nothing on me.
the lead balloons are going down on me

and when we were driving 
nobody said a word 
they'd their head in their hands,  going over my words.

oh my word!

these dreams...
