It’s always a beautiful day when Crossy drops off some new music at Born On Road HQ. The last time he did so was back in 2021 when he curated our Future Blends V/A album, providing us with the classic “Born On Road” anthem featuring the late Skibadee. While he may not have released often in the past, this year we’re going to see some exciting, consistent manoeuvres from Crossy – starting with the release of a new single. Featuring the vocals of Jman, and aptly titled “Detonation”, this single is destined to cause damage in the rave. Crossy loves a silly tune, pass it on.

Gareth Blakey AKA Freeze UK was born Preston and now lives in Bournemouth. The DJ/producer was hugely influenced by 90s rave culture, not least by his 3 hard partying older sisters..! After swapping rave tapes at school, he left to work in Canada and the Netherlands before returning to the UK to produce and DJ full time. Counting the likes of Grooverider and Nicky Blackmarket as friends, over time he’s recorded for the legendary labels Suburban Base and V Recordings, where he worked closely with Jumping Jack Frost.

A fan of 90s rave, reggae and jungle in equal measure, Freeze UK presents it all in this storming EP.
‘Murderer’ is a beefy jungle roller, featuring the classy vocals of Miss Melody; the Brighton based singer, rapper and festival promoter (Bexfest) and the EP titel track is also sprinkled with the sounds of saxophone & guitar played by Bournemouth singer Jordan Digby.
 
‘Problem’ is a proper jungle runner - think Bladerunner at the peak of a set. Manchester based producer/DJ/singer and old friend Diligent Fingers supplies the rudebwoy vocals. No one is having a problem with this one. 
‘Reach For The Lasers’ is where Freeze takes us back to the 90s: classic piano riff, gorgeous breakbeats. White gloves and glo sticks out people!  Make sure the Murderer EP is on your summer playlist.

The weather is heating up here in the UK and it’s got us in the mood to bring you a fresh scorcher from two of our family members. Introducing a power link up from Euphonique and Carasel, “Big Flame Emojis”. The one’s filled with the dancefloor fire Born On Road loves to shell. If anyone was there for our five hour set at Hospitality On The Beach then you’ll know this all too well! “Reminisce” is the second single from Toronto Is Broken’s forthcoming third album “Clare”, bringing forth a new chapter regarding the sound of Toronto Is Broken. Finally fusing together his two music loves, drum & bass and metal, with such clarity, “Reminisce” sets the benchmark in what to expect from TIB’s new album and music from now on.

Natty Campbell (Chase & Status, Chopstick Dubplate & Dub Pistols) also returns for vocal duties after last year’s collaboration “Set It” (ProgRam), providing a high energy vocal, perfectly complimenting the track’s aggressive low-tuned guitars and driving drums.

The flipside features a remix from up and coming YANA producer Matt Neux, bringing his jungle roots to the forefront; big 808's and hefty foghorns. This one's for the bucket hat crew!

YANA013 has also been released in association with the Beats in Mind: Headsbass mental health project, with all funds raised being donated to various mental health charities. YANA013 drops on 14th August 2020 on all major online stores and streaming platforms.
