A native of Cambridge, Maryland, Ashley Watkins has been playing flute since she was 10 years old. Her musical journey started in the fourth grade when she joined the school band. At age 14, she began taking private lessons at a local music store she often visited. Her studies and interest continued by joining the Annapolis Md, youth orchestra program, the Washington, DC Youth 
Orchestra program, where she toured South Africa in 2002; and the Peabody Sinfonietta at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. She also held memberships in many flute choirs and wind ensembles throughout the region.  
 
Ashley attended James Madison University in Virginia studying under Dr. Beth Chandler earning a Bachelor of Music in Performance, 2007, and The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio where she received a Master of Music in Performance, 2010 under George Pope. 
 
Currently she is offering performances throughout the Delmarva community being featured in concerts at the Dorchester Center for the Arts; as a highlighted Flutist in the “Thank God for Jazz” event, that was the kickoff for the DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival, at the Delaware Theater in Wilmington, DE; featured guest artist at the Buffalo Soldiers Banquet at the Forum in Baltimore, MD; feature artist at the Athenaeum Museum in Arlington, VA; guest Flutist at Howard University’s afternoon for the artists, and as guest flutist at various events and churches throughout the Delmarva Peninsula.
