The Lord’s day in Colorado
Balloons float in the sky of blue
The foothills of the Rockies
Are starting to show through

A couple rabbits bounce around
I named one of them Jack
Coyotes looking for breakfast
Or maybe for a snack

Sunday sunflowers
Seven standing tall
There could be an eighth one
I think I’m feeling Fall

The Flat irons are peeking out of the fog
From an early morning Boulder rain
The air’s snapping like a turtle
I got football on my brain

I think I see Mt. Evans 
It’s got a new name now
At least Longs Peak still looms above
To her majesty I bow

An eagle soars high overhead
Makes me proud to be American
A rooster crows in the distance
It’s right on time but man it’s 6:00 a.m.

Bales of hay sit in the field
A tractor rusts alone
The yellow barn and picket fence
The geese have up and flown

Thirteen years in the Centennial State
Life’s been good on Mountain Time
But thirteen years might be long enough
Like them flowers I’m past my prime

I’ll miss the top down on the ol’ Jeep
T-Rex blasting to the sky
Like those sunflowers it’s time to be leaving
