Diamonelle "Young Fly Money" Thompson at the young age of 12, Thompson got a rare opportunity.He had the privilege of being around music all of the time and loved listening to Tupac and Biggie growing up. Thompson’s uncle, Shocka Lee, member of Zulu Nation, was a large influence on him and his music. He took him to Do or Die Studio in Chicago, where he recorded his first song, ‘Candy Store.’ Thompson knew nothing about music distribution at that time but was happy to say that he wrote and recorded his own song and could listen to it over and over with his friends. Growing up in K-Town, on the west side of Chicago, Thompson continued practicing his rapping skills well into high school and that’s when people started to notice him. Rapping to beats made on the lunch table by friends, and free styling against an opponent, were some of the things Thompson did daily. Rapping and music become even more of a way of life for him. Reality hit after high school however, as he had to slow down on rapping find a job to support himself. He had no idea what that meant for his career in music but he knew he had to be able to take care of himself first. “It was at that point to where rapping became more of a dream to me than a reality,” he said. “I just had to focus and get money.” No matter how many hours Thompson had to put in at work, he continued to work on his craft to get better at it. He never lost sight of what goals he wanted to achieve through making music. Even when he wasn’t working, Thompson would be thinking of the next song he wanted to write. He also had visions of helping other artists achieve their music goals as well. With inspirations like Tupac, Biggie, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, and Dr. Dre, there was no way that Thompson was going to give up on a dream that he felt for so long. When he was stable enough from working, Thompson went back to focus on his music. His first mixtape which was released in 2010 entitled Mixtape Fever had 30 tracks. Thompson thought that if he could distribute this mixtape around the city of Chicago, he would then build a strong fan base. He started to get into performing and that led to him opening for De La Sol as well as GLC, a rapper out of Chicago, during the time he was still pushing his mixtape. He then officially became the CEO of ISE Nation Record Label in 2013. He has been working with new rap artists such as J Dub, Truce, Lil Sahaid to assist them with promoting their music. It’s exciting for Thompson to use the tools that he has learned along the way and teach to someone else that will benefit from it. “When I make it, nobody around me can say that I didn’t help them make it as well, he added.” His singles, ”I’m Winning” and ”2Morrow”, have been circulated through radio stations as well as played in clubs around the Chicagoland area. Thompson is now preparing to release his new single “Drip” which is set to be released early November. He is dedicated to making music on a continuous basis as to get better at what he’s doing, as well as to bring good music to the table. His music has a party vibe to it; with catchy hooks and intricate beats, that’s enough to keep any party live. His focus now is distribution and it is important for him, just like any artist to be heard. Thompson’s music is currently being distributed different ways ranging from ITunes, to selling of cds at shows, and also by using datpiff.com. He doesn’t plan on taking any more time off and wants to work on building his future in music. “When all is said and done, do what makes you happy. Whatever, it may be. Go with it. Stick with it. And don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it.” Thompson invites all to attend his next event on November 1st with "Real T" and " DJ. K Besser" and their “7 years on the Air celebration”, featuring performances by " ", and Special Invited Guests " ". The event is to be held at "Loft Adiq", 754 Broadway in Gary Indiana, from 10pm to 3am with free entrance for Ladies till 11pm.
