Here's an excerpt from my opening set at the March 2025 edition of Dreaming of a Disco, my monthly party at The Cardinal Bar in Madison, WI. It was such a treat to host Leja Hazer in Madison for this party, I played for two hours to open the evening before him and picked this as my favorite part of the set.

Welcome to Episode 7 of AZZA's Friends featuring dj dreamgirl! 

Dreamgirl has so quickly become a close friend it is difficult to process we met less than a year ago! After many years organizing bands, artists, and creatives for her party series Instar, she turned her powerful concentration and love of music towards djing and the results have been nothing less than astounding.

After a mysterious social media introduction and a devious streak of short mixes, the Madison DJ community was intrigued.  Once her mix series Sound Snacks was unveiled at the beginning of the year we were invested! In 8 months she’s gone on to play nearly every major underground party and radio show in the city culminating in a residency with Madison's beloved JAMS party! Her secret? A tangible, soul-level appreciation for powerful music and a fun, fearless attitude that makes it impossible to not get into it. 

After many months of sharing music and memes we became close friends after a small JAMS crew took an inaugural trip to The Great Beyond. From the artist herself:

“This mix is heavily inspired by my weekend at TGB. I tried to gather my favorite elements of the festival's wonderful music. My goal was to build to the energy level of a feral corn-sweat dance. I mixed blind (downloaded most of these tracks five minutes beforehand) and although it may show a bit, I am very proud of this one! Fueled by coffee, incense, flower, and ass-shaking.”

An apt description for this powerful builder of a set – don’t let the deep atmospheric tech lull you into thinking you won’t be dancing 20 minutes after hitting play! Catch dreamgirl on a dancefloor near you soon 😊
