i was literally messing around with logic's saz instrument and went down a procrastination rabbit hole while in the middle of working on a project, and i came out of it with this bop. it's rough around the edges and v short but maybe i'll come back and work on this more in future?

this little tune gives me giddy up vibes hence the sketch of a noble steed i drew once upon a time, as a casual study of a painting from Sadigh Tabrizi's "Riders and Lovers" series.

Playing around with sus2 chord inversions and intervals of 4ths, while practicing my newfound mixing and mastering skills.

All sounds used are MIDI instruments. Bass and drums are from Logic's Sound Library.

This little tune came out of a composition challenge set by @G-Orchestra to write something only using any chords based on the first few notes of the circle of fourths: C, F, Bb, and Eb. I took a little detour from the original criteria, though..

It was in making this that I realised two things: 
-the notes of a sus4 chord in its 2nd inversion are always 4ths apart
-the notes of a sus2 chord in its 1st inversion are always 4ths apart too 

Erik Satie's Gymnopédies and Gnossiennes may have been one of my subconscious influences for this tune..

Dolour at Dusk

This short piece is directly inspired by the soundtrack for 'Anne with an E', which was brilliantly composed by Amin Bhatia and Ari Posner. One of their major influences for the soundtrack were Irish and Scottish folk songs. 

I originally set out to write something more Armenian-sounding as an experiment for a film I'm composing for, but it mostly ended up sounding a lot more something that would fit the TV show, which I've been obsessively watching. But some subtle Armenian influences remain in the melodies of the clarinet.

I love how these composers, and many others (like my all-time favourites, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Aram Khachaturian) bring folk melodies and ideas together with orchestral instruments... something I plan to do a lot more of!

I got a little carried away testing out the inputs on an audio interface I'm using for the first time, with an electric guitar. Explored the amp and pedal plugins on Logic properly for the first time as well.

How summer 2020 would sound if it wasn't for covid

A lofi tune inspired by an illustration I made of a friend's online persona...

In the summer a friend and I set some composition challenges to each other, and my prompt was based on my illustration. With this picture in mind, I was thinking chill beats but with an element of mystery (added through the harp and whole tone scales at the start and end).
