No matter how many times I try, I can't seem to get a recording that I feel good about. So this is the best I can do for now, given the circumstances. 
I think my mic placement still isn't quite optimal. Continuing to figure that out, along with the audio. Apologies for playing some notes way too loud; I know the audio got a bit distorted at times. Hopefully it's still listenable.

Ginkgo

Another attempt at double tracking both the guitar and the vocals. As usual, string-slide-sounds are present; I know they're not so pleasant to listen to. I've been having a lot of trouble with my voice lately, so this was all I could give at the moment. Not an improvement as far as that goes, but I feel like the mixing is at least a little better (compared to my previous attempt). Still haven't got it entirely right though.

It's interesting that death and grief can change the way we see each other. When my dad was here on Earth, I didn't always view him through a positive lens. There were aspects of our lives that clashed, and we sometimes struggled to connect. However, since his death, I've gained more insight into the complex person he was. More pieces have come together, and my perspective has shifted. Now, I view him with only love.

A vase of three roses stood beside my dad’s urn on the day of his funeral. One red rose for my mom, along with two white roses: one for me, one for my sister.
While writing this song, I thought of the vibrant childhood that my sister and I shared. I distinctly remember what it felt like to run, run, run: to lose my sense of connection to the solid ground; to be swept up and carried by the warm summer air. It was freedom in its purest form. No past, no future, no fears. Only here and now. Legs tingling, heart pounding, smiling wide through the panting. 
Bright and radiant. We were two white roses.
