This release stands as a testament to Involve's commitment to pushing the boundaries of electronic music, featuring four tracks that blend intricate sound design, complex drum programming and impressive arrangements with raw energy, tailor-made for the modern dance floor.

The EP kicks off with "Pane Smasher," combining dark techno beats with futuristic grooves and soundscapes. The track's unique character is further enhanced by distorted reggae vocal shots, leading to a break dominated by an amen break-based drum and bass rhythm. Keeping the pace up, "Dump The Dealer," an elaborate, detail-rich track that showcases Blame The Mono's mastery in sound design, follows. Driven by a hypnotic vocal loop, the track navigates through gritty, trance-infused basslines before taking an unexpected turn into dubstep, offering dancers a moment to recharge before the high-octane drop. 

Following suit, "Gold Brick" impresses with elaborate drum work and an array of sounds ranging from piercing sirens to chopped vocals. Following his critically acclaimed album "Remember Why You Started", the album’s remix packs which featured legends like Ellen Allien, Slam, Thomas P. Heckmann and Boston 168 revisiting Regal’s creations and a bunch of reworks of legendary techno tracks, the Spanish techno master is back on track with an EP showcasing his dynamic range.

The opening track "Push It" kicks off with vibrant hard groove and Hi-NRG influences, reviving an iconic old-school vocal from 1986, masterfully integrating 80’s breaks and modern sound design with synth leads to capture the essence of a timeless hit. The title track "Not Another Summer“ follows with a deep, slowed vocal chop, setting a rich, compelling tone. The dynamic bassline and the rolling groove, punctuated by classic chord stabs, robotic sci-fi effects and interlaced vocal fragments, craft a lively, engaging dance experience.

The mood shifts in "2009 En El Desierto“, where an evolving bassline and a stomping kick drum lay the foundation for an old-school techno banger. Tribal bongos infuse a mystical layer, blending with a distinctively chopped vocal that harks back to the nostalgic beats of Spain's legendary Monegros Festival in 2009. "Snatch" closes up the EP with warmth and vibrancy. A stutter-effect female vocal melds into the groove, enhanced by futuristic suspense-building sound effects. The track’s evolving chord melody adds depth and excitement, providing a captivating conclusion to this EP, showcasing a more housy and groovy side of the Spanish techno icon.

Back at headquarters, our Yellowhead leaders are about to get attacked by a swarm of 'Symbiosis', just when the ever-prolific Sasha Carassi and the infamous duo Industrialyser and The Advent land their ships down, bringing along their own secret weapon of choice! The battle begins with our captains charging forth, unleashing a rocksteady rhythm section which acts as a sonic building block, while the disharmonic synths and the bubbling bass, provide the right amount of momentum! When Belgium’s Bonzai Records released Cherrymoon Trax I “The House Of House” in 1994 it was like nothing I had ever heard before. It is a masterpiece that captures the energy and euphoria of rave culture from the mid 90s in such an iconic way. I picked this track out of my record collection a few months ago and felt compelled to create a tribute to this groundbreaking work. My respect to the original producers Yves Deruyter; Alex Stephenson; Frederico Santini and Franky Kloeck. (Thomas Schumacher)

Slam rework Nitzer Ebb Nitzer Ebb, Silent Breed, DK8, Terrance Fixmer and more for the final instalment of their Archive Edit series

Soma label heads Slam curate a specially designed package of tracks to finalise their Archive Edit project that sees them delve deep into Techno’s past to bring some of the genre’s best tracks into the modern age. The Archive Edit project started as a way for Slam to showcase and share the many different edits that had made their way into their DJ sets over the last few years. The pairing of Stuart McMillan & Orde Meikle have both raided their extensive collections, picking out tracks that have defined countless sets over their career. Tracks from luminaries such as Nitzer Ebb, Thomas P Heckmann (as Silent Breed), Damon Wild & Terrence Fixmer have been re-edited alongside some of Slam’s own unreleased material, showcasing the duo’s current sound; one that constantly naturally evolves, matures and demonstrates why the duo have been at the forefront of the global scene since its inception.

“We resurrect nine cuts from our archive collective collections for your listening and spinning pleasure. Some are original material, some are live re-edits, some are well-known, others are not! They all have one thing in common, they all attempt to unashamedly destroy dancefloors, and thus featured heavily, (usually toward the end of our DJ sets) in the last year or so well known”. Now we share them with you!"

Slam open the album with an absolute monster track in the form of their rework of the legendary Nitzer Ebb’s ‘Join In The Chant’. The anthemic EBM/post-punk infused original is given a thrashing overhaul from the duo marking one of the standout tracks of this collection.  A special live rework of fan favourite ‘Scorpion’ drops before the previously unreleased ‘Memoriam’ delivers on a more emotive tip. Firing back into the edits is Thomas P Heckmann’s seminal ‘Sync In’, under his Silent Breed Moniker which is a fast-paced, Neo-Trance affair Slam then drop the manic ‘1001’ which takes the BPM stratospheric. DK8’s, Murder Was The Bass is up next and given a 2019 update as the duo's edit snatches up all the most perfect elements of the track leading nicely into a rework of French EBM legend Terence Fixmer’s ‘Body Pressure’ - driving through with its twisted beats and vocals. Another special live edit of the first Archive Edit release, Damon Wild’s Rotary makes an appearance as the album closes out with the rave infected, rework of the Hertz classic ‘Recreate’
