[BIRDFEED EXCLUSIVE] Buddy Kingdumb Name debuts on the Feed with “Emotion with Rhythm”!


How long have you been creating music?

Since I was around 12 or 13, I was introduced to the Harmonium which is like a small Indian piano probably at around 9 years old.



What do you use to make your tracks?

I use Ableton Live which I love, loads of different plugins and a few outboard pieces - I have a Korg M1, Microkorg and Kawai K4. I also have an analogue desk and valve preamp I use to warm stuff up sometimes! I trust my Audeze headphones like mad too - they come highly recommended.



How and when did you first discover Dirtybird?

Probably around 10 years ago. I heard a track by Eats Everything and checked out more of the Dirtybird stuff and really liked what it was all about.



Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most?

I’d probably say Eats Everything because he is a fellow UK producer and was my intro into the label all that time ago.



If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you?

A Beautiful Mind - sometimes I’m clever and sometimes I’m a bit stupid (that’s where the name Kingdumb comes from) and like everyone, sometimes happy, sometimes sad! We all have beautiful minds though.



What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?

I’m not that big into Indian music but it has to be a Ravi Shankar and Zakhir Hussain concert - the most renowned sitar player and tabla player in the world. They played amazing stuff and it was all improvisation - there was a huge battle between the players to showcase the crazy skills between them. It was like an MC cypher on steroids!



If you could time travel, where and when would you go?

I think I’d like to see the UK 100 years from now. Technology in the last 100 years has developed like crazy, I’d love to see where technology and humanity is headed.



What species of bird best describes you and why?

Probably an Eagle. When it comes to DJing I love to go for the jugular whilst showing good technical ability.

Over the last year or so my life has changed a lot, much like many of yours. This mix is about learning, changing, growing and always looking ahead. Building new meaningful relationships, while respecting and loving ones self. Summer is a state of mind and The Matrix is a documentary.

This collection of tracks explores all of my favourite aspects of 4x4 dance music. I hope you enjoy this deep, groovy, progressive, tech, weird and wonderful mix I've made for you.

AUTOCORRECT DESTINY: A 2022 PROMO MIX

It seems the harsh weather is clearing, and we are looking ahead to better and brighter times. This set was inspired by the return of the dancefloor. A curated selection of deep groovers and uptempo heaters, woven together with plenty of soul, this could be my favourite mix to date. Festi season is coming, and I'm ecstatic.

Lil Lunchtime Sesh 5-4-22

The return of the dance floor. I was so fortunate to be able to close the show at the first post-covid Lighthouse event. Seeing everyone dance and smile until the lights came on gave me a certain feeling I won't soon forget. 

This set also has a guest spot 30mins in, none other than the Lighthouse captain himself, Troy Power. He spun a couple rave bangers and we were able to debut our first original single together, to a packed out dance floor. 

I hope you all enjoy this truly hectic, hilarious, weird and wonderful mix.
