Couple o'years ago we lived in an apartment building with this terrifying elevator. It looked as if it had been forgotten after being intalled (in the 60's ish?), though it needed repair or adjusting mostly every week. Worst part was certainly the noises, always sounded like something fell from under it, creaked when it moved and when the inner door was closing there was this weird deep-pitch machine sound that ended up inspiring the bassline here.
