Then again you will also hear that voice close to you, singing, sharing an experience or a thought. It is always soft, effortless and unpretentious, but always strong, clear and precise, like the voice that speaks to you in an altered state of consciousness. It seems to come from the same person that is holding your hand, when everything else seems to fade into uncertainty while wandering through strange times and places…

This is a long overdue collaboration and we couldn't be more excited to present a brand new EP from our man, Jena's mad scientist funk freak himself, Metaboman. A stalwart veteran of the legendary Musik Krause camp, which has been a kindred spiritual sister label of sorts of ours since the millennium-turn heydays, being fellow purveyors of bold and raw dance floor music, still brimming with new ideas galore and bucket loads of soul.

Here with the Wireless Dancer EP we have Metaboman in top form offering nothing less than his finest work: "Doppeldenk" starts things off with some classic Krause bump that brings to mind the heights of the Duo at their peak but updated, like an STL banger turned up to 11 with sinewy melodic lines and that special Thuringen twist. "Hanno" follows up with a guest spot by jazz saxophone master Thomas Prestin, and guarantees to bring down the house with a storm of swinging stabs, rough riffs, and fresh-as-it-gets drum work. On the flip, "Splitit" does exactly that, whether referring to wigs, legs, or that last drink ticket - where dusty blues vox chops and a rolling percussive smack down will revive any fading floor faces. And finally, "EchterG" rounds it all out nicely with the illest of atonal trips and subsonic bass tones that the finer sound systems out there will fully indulge. "What's in a name?" asked Shakespeare a few centuries back. "That which we call a rose by any other word would smell as sweet," continued the poet. Well, when one listens to Birds Ov Paradise, the answer to old Willie's classic question is actually "Everything". It's rare to hear an artist with such clarity of vision and singularity of purpose; it's even more precious to have the artist's moniker almost define that vision. Pick any track from Birds ov Paradise and you'll hear birds in it. No, not a happy bird chirping in the background, but a litany of reverberated, occasionally rhythmic and occasionally chaotic percussive whispers, pokes, ticks and tacks, that indeed sound like a fluttering of wings. Sometimes those sounds resemble a flock of birds happily flying around a park on a sunny day; sometimes the birds are creating a menacing sense of tension straight out of Hitchcock, and sometimes the sounds channel somber darkness of ravens circling an old oak tree in a dark forest in the gray of twilight. "Wild Growth" leans towards the light rather than darkness. And with it's stronger sense of melodic purpose and benign ambiance, it sounds more like an early morning of what will turn out to be a sunny day, with minimalistic "birds" ambiance providing a sense ease and hope rather than gloom that's prevalent on many other tracks from the artist. It's another gem in the artist's library and clearly an original in a landscape overflowing with too many derivative producers.

трип presents ‘locus error’, a new double vinyl concept album. Moving beyond the scope of the traditional, arbitrarily compiled VA, трип's conceptual approach brings together a range of artists around a uniting theme, supplying a sense of cohesion and narrative thrust.
Like Noel Saavedra’s accompanying artwork, the narrative is vibrant yet nightmarish, a vision of classic trance music, including its psy side, refracted through трип's fearless, oddball aesthetic. Nina Kraviz sets the tone with 'test'. Kyoka’s ‘link’ coaxes you in with suggestive murmurs from all angles like an auditory hallucination. Ryan James Ford and ANTIGONE make label debuts, while SOPHIE and Juliana Huxtable unite for the first time as Analemma - a formidable pairing with an abstract offering, merging trance elements, metallic and corporeal sound design with vintage euphoria.
трип misfits PTU do their best to upset your sense of time and meter with two modern psy trance interpretations. Carlota contributes the nervously optimistic title track. Alan Backdrop’s hair and pulse raising yet classy ‘nizaj’ clears the way for the grand finale: X-Dream’s murky, mesmeric and minimalistic genre classic ‘superintelligence’. On the digital a ‘clever mix’ that was previously unreleased outside Japan will be released. Masters sit alongside newcomers to the form, on an LP for dancers deep in a fugue state.

Deviating from the austere brevity that marks Northern Electronics out, Scandinavian Swords IIII: Atlas of Visions completes a survey of the label’s confidants and components in the same breath as it introduces a swarm of new artists and genre-collisions.

With the swell of the last 12 months behind them, Anthony Linell and Jonas Rönnberg have forged the compilation with a paradoxical formula: Atlas of Visions stakes itself as a milestone release that retains the sure-footed programming of its proprietors yet cuts a new silhouette for what the platform of a Northern Electronics release consists of.

Presented across two volumes, Atlas of Visions courses through the hyper-pigmented and infectious fallout zone between club-focused works and the abstract territories of experimental modes. The release compiles egression and intensification into a pandemoniac whole, a refracting design for fractured times.
