Hot off the back of a single on Moda Black, and a remix of Romanthony on Glasgow Underground. British duo Mia Dora, drop ‘You In The Future’ via Kerri Chandler’s MadTech imprint this November.

Brit duo Mia Dora, have been making quite the names for themselves since stepping onto the scene in 2010, earning their initial wave of support off the back of remixing Roots Manuva’s, ‘Get To Get’ for Big Dada, which was picked up by Radio 1 aficionado’s Giles Peterson, Mary Anne Hobbs and Rob Da Bank, a striking indication of the pairs undeniable talent. Fast forward two years and the duo have been snapped up for Jaymo & Andy George’s Moda imprint, and have firmed up their name as one of the hottest acts of 2013 having been enlisted to rework Romanthony, Walker & Royce and Grum.

Title track ‘You In The Future’ kicks things off, seeing the duo embrace a rawer, more upfront focus in comparison to previous singles. Smoothly shuffled drums lead the way, while cosseting Rhodes, a bumpy, sub-driven bass-line and a classic organ hook build the melodic movement. Things intricately evolve throughout the tracks seven-minute duration, with baroque changes in the structure, and additional elements such as a hypnotic acid line, keeping things intriguing and evolving dynamically as the record blooms.

Following is ‘After The Dog’, the duo again opt for a rough and rugged feel with the drums, while an insistent rounded sub bass drives the groove, and consistently varied classic chord stabs fuel its energy levels. Drawn out reversed sweeps then build tension alongside sporadic percussive rolls, to create a profound impact when reverting back to the sturdy foundations. To close the release Mia Dora offer up an ‘Extended Edit’ of ‘You In The Future’, doing exactly as it says on the tin and drawing out the infectious groove for extended mixing pleasure.

Kerri Chandler’s MadTech Records imprint closes 2013 with a reflective compilation entitled ‘001-010’, as the name would suggest the compilation is a collective package looking back over the labels initial ten singles, with some exclusive content from Chandler himself, as well as a rework from Thefft and VIP remixes from Pedro 123 and Kashii to boot.

Since the launch of MadTech Records back in 2011, the label has blossomed into one of the leading names in contemporary House, Garage and Bass music. Having picked up support from the likes of Huxley, Eats Everything, Teed, Breach and Pete Tong along the way, it’s evidently clear that MadTech means business with its ever on-point A&R approach bringing to light the talents of so many newcomers and undeniable talents alike. Here MadTech Records delivers ‘001-010’, a glance at the back catalogue since its launch with some exclusive material and VIP Edits thrown into the mix as an added bonus.

First up from the exclusive material we have the ‘Thefft Remix’ of Ill Blu’s ‘Omar’, Jack Robertson aka Thefft, a budding young Brit producer turns in a gritty electronic interpretation of the original number. Cleverly restructuring the feel of the initial piece with swirling pad lines, dubby chords and classic rave stabs driving the melodic movement, while a penetrating, distorted tom-driven bass line and warbling subs add a dark and infectious edge to the rework.

Following is an exclusive ‘Dub’ version of label-head Kerri Chandler’s remix of ‘Blame It On The Youth’ by Voyeur, the mix was initially released as a full vocal mix on the labels sixth release, but Kerri turns in a more refined piano-led reshape here exclusively for this compilation and as expected from Chandler it’s a no nonsense house track designed for soul-stirring dance floor moments.

Then on offer are two more exclusive remixes delivered under the ‘VIP’ tag, meaning new versions knocked up for this compilation from the artists. Kashii reworks ‘Rome’ first, a track taken from his EP and the labels second single of the same name, this time Kashii opts for a more upfront, direct feel with to the mix in comparison to the lush, soulful feel of the original, bringing the raw stab sequence to the forefront with a subtle delay, while weighty 4/4 rhythms and intricate background automation cleverly builds a profound hidden depth to the composition. Then last but not least London producer Pedro 123 turns in his new take on his mix of Lakosa & iO’s ‘Home Early’, this time opting for a smoother approach, with fluttering Rhodes, nagging saw-wave bass, earth shattering subs, elongated delayed vocals and bumpy off-kilter drum programming.

‘001-010’ is out December 16th 2013.

The Northern England up and comer on the tip of everyone’s tongue, Josh Butler, drops
the ‘No Frills’ EP via Kerri Chandler’s MadTech Records this March.

Josh Butler’s been steadily bubbling away on the British underground for quite some time now, and it seems 2014 is going to see Butler truly shine with a busy touring schedule already locked in for the year. Material on Love Not Money and OFF Recordings further brought to light Josh’s talents and now the Leeds based producer joins the MadTech roster, following the footsteps of Celsius, Mia Dora and No Artificial Colours in the rise to stardom.

Kicking off the single is title track ‘No Frills (Dub)’, which sees Butler play off a rugged, strippedback rhythm, built around a classic 4/4 foundation, while popping percussion, warbling dub-tinged bass and infectious vocal murmurs meander around the drums. Creating a hypnotic, undeviating groove, given an even more striking affect when menacing synth sweeps draw the attention away from it sporadically. The end result is a refined contemporary roller designer for the dance floor.

Then on the latter half of the single we have ‘Like This’, staying on a similar tip with loose beats and shuffling snares driving the record. While a hooky sub bass drives the energy and an undeniably catchy vocal line uttering ‘the beat goes like this’ adds a further widespread, modern appeal to the cut.

The duo AZ&TOR, aka Aisha Zoe & Rich Main, were thrown into the limelight by BBC’s Introducing series, tipped as ones to watch, and releasing their debut ‘Resend’ via Madtech’s fortnightly free download series. The producer / singer outfit return to the label here with a full length EP, joining the likes of Citizen, Voyeur, Waze & Odyssey and Krystal Klear on the roster.

The EP kicks off with the original version of title track ‘Sit Back’, a contemporary deep-house workout, drenched with soul and cossetting warmth. Aisha’s heartfelt vocal lines brilliantly meander around the sturdy groove’s foundations, built upon organic piano chord progressions, bright string melodies and bubbling sub tones. ‘Feels Like’ follows, embracing a similar aesthetic with hypnotic, warbling synth melodies, shuffling, off- kilter drums and sensual vocal lines, jazzy sax licks add a further musicality to the cut, building to a focal point, where an elongated, penetrating bass takes things up a notch, resulting in a heady peak-time house number.

Next up is ‘Carry Mine’, displaying a more ethereal side to the duo’s productions with brooding pads, resonant synth lines, broken-beat drum programming and a contemporary house feel, achieved through an amalgamation of urban vocal lines.
Following their critically acclaimed ‘Crying Wolf’ EP which preceded this release, No Artificial Colours step in to rework, ‘Sit Back’, the duo stamp their signature low-slung, house meets garage sound on the original record, with hooky bass, heavily swung snares and murmuring chops of the original vocal. To close the release Polkadot turns in a mix of ‘Sit Back’, putting things on a New Jersey tip with raw 909 drums, Hammond organ tones and gritty saw-wave bass action.

This is yet another outstanding addition to the Madtech catalogue, and further testament to the attentive A&R approach of the imprint. AAZ&TOR’s ‘Sit Back’ EP is OUT NOW and yours to own via:
