In answer to the questions I keep getting asked.
 ccai pt2 , part 1 is Drukqs, as that was the first thing I released that utilised computer controlled instruments, namely a modified Yamaha disklavier, 2nd gen and a couple of midi controlled solenoid based drum mechanisms I made just after I got the Disklavier.

I kept seeing them [disklaviers] in hotels, usually used to pipe muzak around the place and thought why doesn't anyone actually use one of these to compose music on and make beats etc! 
A couple of times when i saw them in hotel lobbies, i sneaked up to the disklavier and set it to play ultra low pitch and very slow, funny watching peoples reactions, it was down every corridor etc
NOBODY i spoke to back in around 1999 inc. people at yamaha knew how to connect one of these to a computer and I had to take my computer into Yamaha to try it out to see how fast these things could go, no info on the net then either.
The first year I burned out countless solenoids in the thing and learnt how to repair them myself, the more recent gen ones like I used at the barbican have temperature cut outs on them thankfully, i’ve still fried a few though!

#afx \ best way i can explain this was falling in love with someone that didnt exist, it couldve been applied to anyone and everyone. liferush. I mean it was for luke's competition but when I was making it I obviously had other thoughts going around me ed. Was hard keeping it a secret from him, i had an advantage, i knew better than most what luke liked !-)  I gave the prize to the runner up, i forgot his name now. It's quite quiet becuase the sub is so loud and low, trade/off. \ Won the Future Music competition for the best Luke Vibert remix. here is a download gift / sneak tease for the fans, to show the kind of quality I'm extracting from my old cassettes using mega high quality cassette decks.
Because I've added vari-speed, I get to choose what speed I encode them at, I've done a few different versions of all my fave ones and it's usually just what I think sounds good at the time or just different to what I'm used to.
This one is from a That's cassette labelled copy III , i used a lot of the VX90 tapes in that period of my life.
It is the 12th track on side a.
Even though I used to write COPY *.number, they were actually the original masters.
Think was one of the first tracks that had a small section with intentional microtuning, [harmonic series sec]
Encoded with Nakamichi CR7e cassette deck.

+added, it cuts out at the end coz the tape ran out :)
I remember sometimes recording tracks to cassettes, I'd be looking at the cassette nearing the end and try and finish the track before the tape ran out :)
