*Giving UP is the next song released from ANDI’s upcoming EP ‘Cedar Ward’. It was written at a time of self doubt.  Amy had taken a break from music to become a new Mum and had doubts wether to pursue music and let her inner thoughts sabotage her music career.  
The song was originally written at home on an acoustic guitar and the influence of many female RnB artist , SZA ,Solange etc and it would later form a fuller darker sound with the influences of her band mates and bands such well as Hiatus Kaiyote and Jeff Buckley.

Recorded last August 2020 ANDI took the opportunity of restrictions being lifted to get the Whole EP recorded in two days. We chose Bay studios in Wicklow because of the amazing drum sound.  Drums were a huge part of this song because the accents and stops represent shortness of breathe that you experience during anxiety attacks. Stephen Kearney’s style really gave it that flavour it was missing. 
The song stays at a smooth pace and is interrupted with heavy guitar sounds and haunting backing vocals to represent inner turmoil in Amy’s head. Most of the songs on the EP have a moment of release were the tension dissipates.

Recorded and produced by Dan MKna we finished production,backing vocals and guitar bits in Ravensdale Lane studios in Kimmage.

HERMIT

Amy Kelly cut her teeth fronting Dublin act ‘The Stoney Brokes’ and providing backing vocals for a number of acts in Ireland including ‘The Hot Sprockets’, ‘This Other Kingdom’ & ‘Vernon Jane’

ANDI is the new project from Amy in which she steps out into the spotlight. Amy is a performer and ANDI showcases not just her presence as a live act but also her skill as a songwriter.

ANDI started as an acoustic 2-piece and initially developed into a full band for a performance at Knockanstockan Music Festival in 2019. A stream of shows later that year lead to the recording of ANDI’s debut single, ‘Hermit’.

‘Hermit’  took influence from Tame Impala, The Pixies, Jeff Buckley & Elliot Smith. It was featured in Nialler 9, Hotpress, The Last Mixtape, it was featured on a number of Spotify Playlists and received national radio airplay.
 
In 2021 ANDI will release Housewife. Housewife is a dramatic song about feeling trapped in everyday routine, societal expectations of women and the boredom of normal life. This will be the first single from the upcoming Cedar Ward EP.
