The Muffin Man is one of the UK artists to follow at the moment. She co-runs Modül collective which delivers podcasts and events that awaken the London techno scene. Her music, always precise and danceable, is a clever mix of intense techno and groovy sounds that perfectly illustrate the English techno scene but can also be listened to at parties and afters all over the world. Amsterdam based DJ MARRØN’s name comes from the enslaved Marrons, who centuries ago, cast off their chains and went to live in the forests of Suriname. Inspired by Afro Deep and a number of great names in the history of Motor City beats, as well as more recent incarnations on the other side of the Atlantic, MARRØN’s sound is aptly liberating and reasserts the foundational link between african rhythms and techno. It’s a hypnotising onslaught of beats with which to lose yourself for a few hours in a sweaty basement. Though it was during the pandemic, under a different format, that his podcast series took off full tilt and gave him the platform to play the former. Nowadays his purist sets have their home at Sunday jaunt Eerste Communie, a community building mission and event series he started with a group of friends, with extra bookings all over the map. Key to his sets is something he describes as ‘constant energy flow’, a kind of forward-pitched rhythmic momentum that keeps him and his attendant crowds going. Simple but powerful and expertly devised, overlapping rhythms delivered in high definition and a mile a minute. Bassiani Podcast 212 is 69 minutes of meticulously crafted textures and seductively layered beats from this decidedly gifted mainstay of the Amsterdam scene.

Blue Hour doesn’t need much of an intro, since 2013 the Brightonian DJ, Producer and label head has built a reputation for quick-witted techno and spread his sound at viral pace. The whys are evident, through the years Luke Standing has walked a road from a love of UK dance music genres  (and associated incursions under the monikers Furesshu and Esoteric), to full-bore and masterfully cut techno. When he called the UK home, fate inevitably pulled him into Berlin’s orbit, a place he’d often visit to get his musical fix, and for over a decade it’s been his new nest. He’s come into his own here, working hard (and playing hard) to build a sturdy vision that’s evinced through bookings, releases and close contact with names like Dold, Alpha Tracks, Scandinavian trance collective UTE and Philippa Pacho (with whom he runs forward-thinking  sublabel positivesource). His work, and everything his eponymous label puts out, is stimulating and high order, hedonic techno made for the big room that assuringly cuts all felt spatial and temporal bonds. Smouldering loops that reference his love of 90s rave, and pull equally from IDM, breakbeat, acid, trance and UK bass, furnishing a signature style that’s bullet-fast and unstoppable. Bassiani Podcast 245 is an hour-long studio-recorded spell to the tune of his trademark euphoria. Sweaty beats made for dancing well up to and beyond the blue hour.
