Orkidea Only is a special mix I've made. Featuring only tracks and remixes made by Tapio Hakanen aka Orkidea. Tapio is one of my favourite producers and DJs, so I wanted to spread the word about his amazing music and make this tribute mix.

I wanted to show the variety of music Orkidea was producing through all these years by including both slow, atmospheric tracks as well as faster, more uplifting releases and making this mix feel like a journey through the sound of Tapio. Hope you'll enjoy it. :)

I have always loved long progressive tracks from the likes of BT, Sunday Club and Sasha who've have made tracks well over 10 minutes. You don't hear that much anymore and I was wondering why is that..? I ended up thinking that it's the 2014 EDM culture which has made DJs so visible stage performers that (at least in DJs' heads) there is a need to do something actively when playing and that has lead into two minute quick mixing and sets loaded with mashups. 

Don't get me wrong: I understand that in a big room/festival setting that works very well, but I also believe that many people still enjoy longer progressions and tracks with many parts flowing seamlessly from one to another. I wanted to try to make a track like that: epic intro, deep & groovy build up part, emotive breakdown, driving D part, uplifting peak moment and percussion driven outdo. Hope you like it :)

Evening, Wednesday, Black Rock City 2014. Led by Paavo and Tony of Above and Beyond, bathing in the lavender sunset, we practiced an hour of yoga with Elena Brower. We gathered, strengthened, listened and received the gift of quiet. We landed at home in our own hearts. This class reminds us that we are never alone, and that no matter where we are, we are on the path, and right at home.
