Last spotted on Dirtybird brandishing a switch-flipping, warehouse-busting acid house remix of Kill Frenzy’s massive ‘Make That Booty Clap’, ZDS, AKA Nat Self, returns with his very own full EP. Ladies and gentlemen, make way for ‘Hands’. 

Perfecting his dancefloor dynamism for many years on labels such as Made To Play, Sound Pellegrino, Suara, Defected and Dirtybird, ZDS has primed each of these three cuts with nothing but the party in mind. Each one comes with its own story, let’s get handy… 

‘Hands’: A track to bring sunshine and light to the dancefloor, something to lift you. Nat actually made this specifically to mix with VonStroke’s beautiful ‘Can’t Wait’. Claude loved it so much he signed it as the A-side. Nat’s been road-testing it all summer to great effect. In his own words, he “nearly peed his pants at the reaction to it in Kazantip.”

‘Bang Ze Box’: Ghetto house with a classy polish of timeless house funk, ‘Bang Ze Box’ is undiluted, darkroom audio deviousness. Jesse Rose, Heidi and Eats Everything are already card carrying fans. The minute you hear its infectiously undulating bass groove, you will be too. 

‘Drop’: VonStroke recognised the slinky, sexy bass mischief of this third cut. Deep, penetrative and smothered in sub bass, there’s a subtle sense of euphoria by way of a steadily rising synth line that neatly counters the nagging sea of low end riffage. Its already been receiving some great early reactions and something tells us there’ll be much more by the time ‘Drop’ gains the momentum it deserves. 

Three superb cuts from one of the UK’s most respected house producers. Usually you’re asked to throw up some hands and show some love. Well this time we’re throwing you some ‘Hands’. Big love.

ZDS - Bang Ze Box [Preview]

Our favorite heroes are back on Phobiq and start things off with the bang of &#8220;The Grudge&#8221;, which boasts an unmistakeable riff and chords that remind us of the good old days. The locomotive groove provides the momentum while the boys show off their skills with some distressed synthesis and clever, spacious arrangement. 
&#8220;Thoughtcrime&#8221; picks right up with a grinding rhythm section, and the spotlight is geared towards even more chord goodness. Cavernous effects keep reminding us of who we are listening to and persistent hi-hats drive this one all the way home.

After an impressive late morning closing set at dirtybird’s latest Watergate party in Berlin, Sacha Robotti, made his way to Switzerland to play at Nordstern. Hooking up with an equally exhausted Swiss producer, "Look Like" on arrival, the tired and wired duo shared thoughts over a heady green tea session. Realizing they shared a deep love for bass, they made a pact: to write a collaborative EP that would score the highest of marks from dirtybird big dog Claude VonStroke.

These two slick-back groove attacks are the end result...  “Loca Lola” is a one-way ticket to the most mischievous of party districts where an array of manipulated vocal samples bounce avidly on a bed of chop-slapping beats. Complete with head-popping stabs, cheeky wolf whistles and a carnal carnival shriek, it’s left VonStroke‘s floors floundering the world over on every roadtest. “Dropout”, meanwhile, tunes into a darker, booty-busting techfunk groove where cut-throat vocal stabs punctuate the unrelenting bassline and chest-stamping kicks. Heads down, please; this one shifts in a serious way.

What started as a comedown has turned into a fire-up.  Collab creations don’t come any better than this. Something tells us Robotti and Look Like will be locking horns again the future.
