London’s La bonne musique (@lbmldn) welcomes Ibn Itaka for their latest release - Trace Atlántico: La Discoteca Vol 1, a 3-track EP exploring the artist’s Caribbean roots through electronic music. The three track EP weaves in Latin Club, Jungle and dreamy Hip Hop vocals, creating a project that is as perfect for the dancefloor as it is for home listening. The opening track, “It’s Time 2 Get Out” , sets the tone for the EP, a leftfield take on jungle and a certified club heater. ZZ’s Remix of the opening track is a fusion of his Miami style and a Ragamuffin Latin Club Dub, wrapping up the EP with a bang. Meanwhile, “November Skye”, the dreamier track of the three, features UK producer and vocalist Drill Scott Heron, violin by Camelia Hartman and keys by Isaac Sleator.

“Dancing became an essential activity to cope with the anxiety of my migratory journey from Puerto Rico to Spain. The length and stress of the process made music a form of occupational therapy throughout which I documented the highs and lows of my journey. I was inspired by the music of Jamaicans in London and of Venezuelans in Barcelona (Phran & L’Miranda) and by Sevilla’s love for Breakbeat. I was also inspired by Drill Scott Heron. We share a love for fine cooking, Black electronic music and different ways of being African”. - Ibn Itaka
