Diynamic label artist David August puts a spin on Kollektiv Turmstrasse's "Last Day," a lovely piece of tech-house released back in 2009. Partial PR: The 47th release on microcastle welcomes Third Son to the label for his debut EP. As one of electronic music's most creative talents Joseph Thomas Price aka Third Son has carved out a unique sound all his own. The UK artist has shaped his sonic palette with a variety of influence's and compositional studies which began at a young age. The underground has fallen in love with Joseph's contemporary vision, which resonates through his tough beats, rugged grooves, modern melodies and heavy percussion. It's a sound that's led him to releases on Einmusika, Noir, Sincopat, Selador, Stil Vor Talent and Suara. Now making his long awaited microcastle debut Third Son presents his much anticipated 'Climb to the Sun' EP alongside remixes from Darlyn Vlys.

The EP’s companion piece 'The Girl Reprise' finds Third Son crafting a deeper yet equally emotive creation. A mellow, moodily enticing intro builds steadily into a restrained, yet growling atmospheric beast, before dropping poignantly into the calm eye of a perfect storm. Beyond the break, swirling melodies and ethereal vocals circle with increasing vigour as the track builds towards one final sonic rush. Third Son's insights regarding the track: "The Girl Reprise is the second track of a two part series, based on the theme by Claude Debussy - The Girl with the Flaxen Hair. The first involves more direct references with repetition of the leitmotif from the original. The second is a more refined version of the first, which as it is, I may never release."

The first release of Venom Recordings is decisively marked by the quest for new musical creativity. A common thread which unites the three Venom’s residents Erlin James, Paul Roux and Absence Of Light, as well as the various artists invited to work with them: Dasein, Julien Piacentino, Satom, Against The Time and Memorial Home. By following their own creative path, they shaped a soundscape that blurs the boundaries between dark and melancholic vibes. Both yearned for nostalgia and inspired by the future, all of these artists combine a compelling deep percussion groove with spellbinding dark textures. When their tracks hit the dancefloor, you will be moved by the rolling bassline and pulsating drums. But the distinctive sonic experience of darkness they provide will also awaken the most obscure and dusky emotions buried in you. An ambivalent feeling whose every inch you will savor. An immersive musical trip through which, as Venom conceives it, the listener is also invited to be an artist himself through his own interpretation of sounds.

The journey of the Neverest saga is about to get so much more interesting and exciting with our fellow climber Rory Gallagher delivering 2 astonishing originals - 'The Brain' and 'Ultimatum” - which are beautifully arranged with melodic elements and deep grooves, fitting perfectly into the club atmosphere of the modern underground generation. 

Two remixes by Danito & Athina and Julian Wassermann are included.

First up, 'The Brain”, hypnotizes and spills out amazing melodies which digs deep into our soul and heart. We are unbelievably happy to have scored a Danito & Athina remix who have given their very own interpretation into the mix, with more energy, more growling bass and drive to it.

His second track, “Ultimatum', amazes with an outstanding and unique bass line which carries you through the whole track and is accompanied by the always evolving arp, bringing you a groovy dance floor hit.

The Julian Wassermann remix gives this track a special boost of energy with a very distinctive string pad that emphasizes a dramatic approach to the ultimatum. Stunning!

The Italian-born, Germany based artist is highly regarded for his distinctive style and musical depth.  Releases on Einmusika, Click Records and his own Incroyable imprint have been praised by his contemporaries with Maceo Plex, Joris Voorn and Hot Since 82 all playlisting his music.

microCastle’s masterstroke has been to engage Love over Entropy to repattern ‘Ortygia’. Motivated by the ideology of early Detroit pioneers and experimental IDM, his musical creations are renowned for being hypnotic and atmospheric, with a tender touch, juxtaposing an obsessive attention to detail with space, chaos and chance. As a result the Dutch artist has found a home on taste-maker labels such as Something Happening Somewhere, Lossless and Atomnation. Here he builds a deeply brooding, melodic, percussive masterpiece, and the resultant tension is palpable as his re-imagining of ‘Ortygia’ sparks with eruptive bursts of fizzing energy. A stunning remix on every level, and it is no wonder that he is beloved by such heavyweights as Dixon, Mano Le Tough, Âme and Laurent Garnier.

Fabio Vanore  - Ortygia (Love Over Entropy Repatterning) [Preview]

Making his second appearance on Sincopat is British artist Ten Ven. A secretive artist, little is known about Ten Ven who likes to let his music do the talking, but with guest mixes for people like Shadow Child on Rinse FM and a sound that fuses melody with soul sometimes music speaks louder than words. 

Also featuring on the release is a remix from Danish producer Christian Nielsen whose influences such as Kerri Chandler, Larry Heard, and Frankie Knuckles Christian fuses that classic House sound with modern melodic elements to create his own distinctive style. 

Opening are the muffled synth stabs of ‘Think About It’ that are played with a raw energy to provide the foundation of the track. Taking its title from the commanding vocal sample, its rolling groove is completely infectious. Melodic elements are slowly introduced and it’s not long before a euphoric crescendo of the main breakdown ensues, but any arms in the air moments do not last long, as the kick drum soon crashes back in with devastating force.

Second is the Christian Nielsen remix of ‘Gandia’ which is percussion lead with a looped and tribal groove. Adding his own lead sound he uses short snippets of the originals various synth sections, showing particular favour to a rising burst of arpeggio. Careful to lose none of the originals charm, Christian’s scaled down version may be less epic, but it packs twice the dancefloor punch. 

Track three ‘Gandia’ closes the EP with flittering percussion and a filtered synth line that blossoms into a stabbing rhythm as expertly executed textures add a startling sense of drama. Epic in proportion, the track's fragmented sections are joined by subtle modulation making it as captivating as it is unpredictable. Dancefloor focused and melodic, it’s fair to say this track is a true journey into sound.
