The Standard Carried Forward follows the Thirlwall family through the long years after Bosworth, moving from the quiet recovery of the late 15th century through the Tudor age, the Reformation, the rise of parish life in the north, the slow turn of centuries, and finally into the 18th-century world that will give rise to Connop Thirlwall, the scholar-bishop whose mind will shape the next chapter.

This album is not about war.
It is about continuity — how a family line persists through cultural shifts, dynastic change, and the steady passing of time.
It explores: resilience on the borderlands, faith in parish communities, the challenge and energy of the Reformation, the growth of scholarship, quiet, generational endurance, and the birth of a future historian and bishop.

If Album I was about one man’s loyalty,
Album II is about what loyalty becomes across centuries.
