"Counterfeit" is a unique look at the way social media can alter ones view of success. It is a written from the perspective of an artist who is obsessed with his likes, views, and followers. So much so, that he loses his nights to arguments with his "haters". He ignores the path provided by the ones before him and chooses to pave his own way towards what he believes success to be - acceptance from others. This is a satirical view at the way our instant-gratification-style society can change a person and his/hers view of success. Its easy to become obsessed with the fading feelings of pleasure that social acceptance can provide. Ultimately, "Counterfeit" serves as a warning and a reminder to stay focused on your goals, stay true to who you are, and to never lose yourself in your internet persona.
