Recorded in 2010 with a smaller line up of instrumentalist this track was a composite of an ancient religious text set into English and then supported with an improvisation style of playing by the artists. Solo Piano: Ocean Shores

I originally released this as a special limited edition CD album after two concerts, the release of several years worth of creativity! I wanted it to remain special and limited then. During this time of social isolation for many of us, I've decided to re-release the whole album digitally and make the music free here, you can donate if you'd like to. I'll be releasing one track a month until the whole album is here. You can also find my music on Spotify and Apple Music as well as Youtube in October 2020.   Riki Takaoka was the original artist I worked with for the limited edition CD that sold out and I recently contacted him and we decided to collaborate together to help create music fused with art that brings about a sense of connection to nature and the calm and peace that comes from that. Mountain Road

This composition was inspired by the beautiful suspension bridge that connects Tacoma with Gig Harbor. There is swiftly moving salt water flowing below and often gulls flying by. In the late Fall and Winter early in the mornings there is a mist that surrounds the area. I've always thought that when the mist comes in the trees and water become more of a felt rather then a seen presence, for me this was also an analogy for the longing in my heart for connection with a significant relationship when there was confusion that clouded and made connection difficult.  My hope with all of this music brings about a sense of connection to the seen and the unseen in nature and within ourselves and our connections with others.

Tacoma Narrows

Composer and Pianist Benjamin Chenovik started making original orchestral music with a small group of friends in 2007. They called the music project "Tacoma Urban Orchestra" it was a 7 year project born from the gritty underbelly of Tacoma Washington's burgeoning fusion art scene where the elements of classically trained musicians in their 20's and 30's began to play music together with rock and electronica artists, spoken word performers, world musical instruments, self taught percussionists, DJs, and created choreographed music and dance events. The results were brilliant for those of us who were there and a few people who were a part of our happenings. 

Here a couple of tracks that we explored together recorded in Tristan's studio by Kristof Litke in Hilltop Tacoma. Future works may be released as we rediscover old recordings. 

In 2019 we had a reunion BBQ in the Point Defiance area and jammed to some new tunes, and who knows what may come of this. All of us are still pursuing music professionally, personally and spiritually. The poets are still writing poems  professionally and the dancers are still dancing.

While we may have dispersed into Europe and throughout north and south America we look forward to charing more music with you in the future.

Benjamin is currently working with musicians and vocalists in the Tacoma area creating new music, directing and conducting and releasing new music recordings and a weekly Music VLog on Youtube find his music on Sound Cloud, Bandcamp, Apple Music & Spotify under the name Benjamin Chenovik.
