Sadly this was a very dark an uncertain time in American History as it is only one day after the assassination of The Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. Ph.D. in Memphis, TN.

I've always heard about this performance . . . what a gem to finally listen to it.  As noted in one of the many books out on Diana Ross, she was rushed to sing this song and learn the dialogue . . . and yes, she did mispronounce "gentile" and couldn't quite get protestant out . . . but listening to her after the song the woman was speaking from her heart.  It's a shame Cindy and Mary were not allowed to sit on the sofa and at least have a word or two . . . after all, they were the Supremes.  This was BG's doing, so you can't blame Diana for the girls not joining her to chit-chat with Johnny.  Thanks for this fabulous share.
