Translation Recordings journeys into the dungeon once again with the sinister, subterranean sounds of Bassment Beats Vol. 2. Up first, Red Army’s “Yergacheffe” kicks off with rising dub-wise stylistics and a surging bassline that ripples sonic energy across the soundscape. On “The Hippies”, Brat Leeks serves up a twisted cocktail of mechanized beats and FX mixed with psychedelic synths and wavy sub frequencies. Dyl and Paragon continue the journey to depths unknown with “Abraxas”, where eerie strings and cavernous drums build into a menacing doomsday stomper of a track that crushes everything in its path with bassweight. Cid Poitier delivers the final blow with “Ramping”, whose deceptively stripped-back intro sets up a leviathan drop guaranteed to test the limits of any sound system. Bassment Beats Vol. 2 faithfully carries the torch for the series, showcasing producers from across the globe that are on the leading edge of the darker, more experimental, side of the drum & bass spectrum.

"Dark sinister vibes coming in right away, crisp hi-hat giving the intro some flow towards the drop. Loving the way that a low-pass filter is used on the drum pattern, along with the sudden silence. 
"The drop is horrific, the kick pounds and contains a very low layer to give it an extra boost. If you listened closely, the low-pass filter was also set on that same pad in the intro. Suddenly it changes to an out of tune pad that makes you wander through the dark side of your mind. Really impressed with the percussion and the low-end, as always with Gantz’ material, nice panning on the high elements of the track. 
"The bongos are not completely centered, which gives it a weird twist. That little growl present sounds on point. Check the vox cut at different places being thrown randomly in the mix as well. The break is great, keeps you focused – I can’t get enough of those pads! 
"The second drop is just madness, as I predicted crazy growl development coming in. Wordless progression in the track on all levels, another highly meditative tribal track by tribal king Gantz, definitely showing what we can expect from him in the future!"
