No.34 in the Sinchi & Friends series is Markus of @therobotscientists . The man who does it all... label boss, music curator, DJ, vinyl collector. Usually we say a few words about the mix but in this case we think he says it best himself, intrigued? you should be :-)

' Its a mixture of different styles I love including some Cosmic, Balearic, Shaman House, Ethno Disco and New Wave Tech Dance. This mix has a tropical, spiritual, magical feel and a lot of great, inspiring tunes and sounds. Hope you and your listeners enjoy.'

1)	Introduce yourself?

Hi, I am Markus Schneider, one of the three guys who run Emerald & Doreen Records, one of the two vinyl collectors and Djs behind The Robot Scientists and the curator of the Something Spæcial podcast series. 

2) What have been your highlights from the last 12 months?

We worked with many talented people from diverse stylistic backgrounds  and from all over the world on the label. My favourite releases were the darker new wave disco releases from K-Effect, Pardon Moi, Tulioxi, FLXXX, Freudenthal and the awesome remixes from the Peter Zimmermann tracks. An unexpected highlight was that fashion designer  Elisabetta Franchi licensed one of our tracks for her new online Spring/Summer 2017 campaign and a video with supermodel Toni Garrn. This felt so professional. We still do all the music as a hobby in our spare time but if we get more deals like that, we might go pro one day ;-)

3) What do you have lined up for the coming year?

We kept our slots quite open for the year so far to be flexible if new talent shows up. I personally feel the need for more positivity after two very dark years. We need solutions now that Trumpocalypse has happened. Therefore I might be inclined to release more forward-thinking, ethno, psychedelic, spiritual music as I think the solution for the mess on this planet is tightly connected to more spiritual approach to everything, to a unity consciousness, togetherness in action, not a ego dystopia. Let's wait and see. Therefore we already have scheduled a Sinchi Collective release which I really love and look forward to.

Next on NSAs mix series are Markus Schneider and Stefan Maurer aka „The Robot Scientists“, Saarbrücken/Germany-based DJs, vinyl collectors and fellow lovers of outer space, already known to many music connoisseurs for their numerous „all killer no filler“ DJ mixes, their edits of lost 1980s underground Synthpop and New Wave gems, as co-founders of the innovative „Emerald & Doreen Records“ label or as avid curators of the highly recommended „Something Spæcial“ (spaced out & special = spæcial) guest mix series. 

Their trippy and emotional, energetic and uplifting trademark sound oscillates magically between darkness and the light, between melancholy and euphoria, between the here and now and the next world, between dark disco, cosmic balearica and psychedelic house. 

Markus Schneider tells their story: „We are Saarlanders, not the typical Germans. We never were Techno kids. We loved the electronic underground sound from the beginning and listened to all Italo Disco, Synthpop, New Beat, Electro Funk and New Wave vinyl records we could get as teenagers. We fell in love with the sound of analogue synthesizers, the futurism, the fun, the melodies, the romanticism, the simplicity and the freedom of expression in them. No kidding, until today, there is nothing more beautiful for us than Italo Disco basslines - they simply make us happy! So no wonder we are probably the originators of the phrase, „An Italo bassline never fails“! Fisherspooner‘s „Emerge“ was an alert sign, and when Lindström‘s „I Feel Space“ came out, we knew it was time to start our DJ mission to bring the world the best electronic music influenced by Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode we know about. So we dusted off our record shelves, started digging on discogs and expanding our musical horizons, and here we are. “

Markus Schneider and Stefan Maurer, more known as The Robot Scientists (@therobotscientists), have been active as cosmic and dark disco DJs, label owners (@emerald-and-doreen-rec) and DJ mix curators (@somethingspaecial) for many years now. They started Djing in 2007, their label in 2011 and the podcast series in 2014. Their eternal love for 80's Italo Disco, Synthpop and New Wave always shines through in their mixes, and as they say, their big record collection sometimes urges them to create 2ManyDJs – like megamixes, featuring a lot of new and older tracks in one hour. 

As systematic and holistic universe explorers, their biggest passion are the spaced out and psychedelic tracks and as they say 'we love to tell mystical and energizing stories with our mixes about space, untapped human potentials and the end of times and always like to include one or two surprises'.

On their mix for our series they've featured some of their favourite recent tracks by artists like Niv Ast, Pardon Moi, Roe Deers, Damon Jee, Zakmina, Black Light Smoke, Local Suicide, Hardway Bros and Daniele Baldelli just to name a few.
