 Berlin’s Georg Levin has been an integral part of the scene. A producer, singer and songwriter who's had a significant impact that reached far beyond his local musical landscape. Born in Hamburg, he came up playing sax and keys in local bands, and nurtured ambitions to produce and to put pen to music paper. After a stint at Goldsmiths in London, Georg went on to work for MTV, and various other film production companies. It was when Georg met Dixon, that started the beginning of a long-term partnership, Steffen Berkhahn co-producing his first release ‘When I’m With You’, and then later the cult house classic ‘I Got Somebody New’ in 2002. Levin has collaborated and remixed for Masters at Work,  Jazzanova, Ame, Robert Owens, Basement Jaxx, and Peter Kruder a la Kruder & Dorfmeister.  He has released on Strictly Rhythm, MAW, Sonar Kollektiv, Sony Music, and together with DJ Dixon under their production duo moniker Wahoo, on BBE.  Levin spent a few years focusing on his Playdis TV which he founded in 2011, an award-winning music company that works at the intersections of sound and visions,  with a string of clients that will make car buffs melt.  Mercedes, BMW, dream on...  In 2020 Levin bounced back onto the scene with his brand of blue-eyed, future soulful vibes, destined for Adriatic boat parties
 
The hauntingly beautiful ‘It Was Fun for A While’ continues with the brief, referencing the hazy, honeyed 80s, a time where RnB, Disco and New Wave had a brief fling, but instead of looking back completely, the music and lyrics play with a emotionally abstract nostalgia. The track is bolstered by a totally infectious groove, elegantly crafted and mixed down with a precision touch. Georg Levin’s warm and atmospheric vocal captures the nostalgic moment and feelings of golden and bygone halcyon days. With a killer remix squad onboard, first up Amberoom, comprised of Manuel Tur, Ramin Nouyan, and Adrian Hoffman, who delicately refresh the vibe with their more stripped down rejig.  DJ and producer Tim Paris, you’ll know from his collaborative work with Ivan Smagghe, lays down some shimmering magic on the OG, while Mule Musiq’s and Minilogues, Eitan Reiter takes the the track to a much deeper and darker room. Festivals of summer 2022 beware. This is the track that will be scored in your head and your ears well after the festival fun has ended.

We’ve listen to this track so many times that we’ve lost track of time. “Time” is an absolutely stunning track from Pachanga Boys, the duo of Rebolledo and Superpitcher. It clocks in at almost 16 minutes, but we still can’t enough of it. From their recently vinyl-only EP “Girlcatcher” on their Hippie Dance imprint. Limited to 300 coloured vinyl, including artprint-inlay and handsigned postcard. Grab it while you can here.

There it is, keinemusik number seventeen. We know what you’re thinking. You think you know how it works. You think, those keinemusik fellas will again be doing their little rotation thing, one producer getting a record out after the other, then a Workparty-joint venture at some point and then it starts all over again. Au contraire! This seventeenth edition is breaking the known beautiful, perfectly curled cycle. Just like that, so that no one gets bored. This record here is an appetizer for the collaboration-effort NR&, or rather Rampa, &ME and Nomi, the New York based singer that provided the recent movement of flamboyant Disco-queerness with its sexiest and catchiest hooks, teaming up with Hercules & Love Affair and doing her own project Jessica 6.
On side A they go full heat and directly for the ultimate, heartwarming club-anthem. “Broken Toy” is sneaking in with discreet percussions and some random field recordings on top, until the intro gives way to an instantly touching piano-accord. As soon as Nomi’s notably affecting vocal parts are hitting the mark, it should be evident, that this cut is applicable in various situations. It will inflame floors into rapture of love, it will be perfect iPod-material for lonely midnight-strolls and it makes a perfect new choon for the weeks and months to come.
On the flip NR& rather take care of everyone who is expecting a safe playing house-rehash of the above mentioned acts and tenderly let a lashing snare slap every preconception out of sceptic faces. “Enemy” makes no mistake about being manufactured in Berlin. Its stoic, technoid intent to pave the way to the floor with utmost straightness might seem like a contrast in comparison with Nomi’s warm timbre, but after some bars, you’ll find both in unrestrained, loving embrace.
