The Last Good Friday Mix

'80s British New Wave Mix

This mix is dedicated to Michael Carr, aka ASUBU, a London-based musician, selector and producer who has undoubtedly inspired countless people, me included, with his singular style and creativity. Tragically, ASUBU, an avid cyclist, recently had a serious cycling accident while training for an England/France trek. But he’s OK! Having endured a protracted period of truly painful recuperation, he’s on the mend, thankfully. 

On a whim, I humbly offered to do a mix in his honour. Being the splendid bloke that he is, he said ‘sure.’ And let’s be clear: I’m a hack, and not remotely aligned with Michael or his vaunted stature. We’ve never met, and have only corresponded through music, which is really all that matters. This mix is simply a gesture: a curation of tracks to say thank you, Michael, for what you do every day in your studio; get better, and continue to inspire us with your art. 

What you do is essential to so many of us; more than you can possibly know.
