On October 27th, 11-year-old La’Darious Wylie and his sister were waiting for the bus when suddenly a car hurtled towards them. In his final act, La’Darious shoved his 7-year-old sister, Sha’Vonta McCrorey, out of the path of danger. Fatally injured in the accident, the boy would never know he saved his sister’s life. Even in death he continued to help others, as his mother chose to donate his organs. As the story of the accident became known – the driver, who left the scene, was charged with the crime – the town decided to do something to remember the young man who sacrificed his life for that of his sister.
