Chris Ratcliffe has been playing the tenor horn for only a few months and practicing this solo only three weeks! before this concert he'd never played in a brass band and taught himself to play. There was a bit of a routine before this recording starts but basically he demands to the Musical Director that he 'must' play a solo as he was promised one! its a solo written which has only 1 note for the soloist - and a scale of D at the end!
