Helio sequence

This was a b-side we used for a split 7" with Menomena back in 2010. I believe the 7" might even still exist on Barsuk online store here: http://www.barsuk.com/w3.cgi?vwy=shop/bark098

This was actually the first song we wrote during the recording process of Negotiations. Benjamin was playing around with the idea of using a soft synth (Omnisphere) for the entire record and was using his first Omnisphere created backing track to test A/D converters on drums - hence the name "Converter". Although the song helped us choose the converter we used for drums (a now replaced Apogee AD16x), we ended up going a completely different sonic/emotional direction for Negotiations and Omnisphere was quickly replaced by an Oberheim Xpander, Ensoniq ESQ-1, Korg EX-8000 and Studio Electronics ATC-Xi.

Converter

This is a b-side we did back in 2005... I think this ended up on one of the PDXPopNow compilations and later we put this on a pre-order bonus disc for "Keep Your Eyes Ahead".

This song was done primarily by Brandon (Acoustic, Vocals, Flute, Boom+Snaps) and later embellished by Benjamin with synth pads and tape delays. We've recently played this song (2014-15) at our acoustic shows with accompanying cello. 

All Of These Things

Here is a remix we did for Gold Lake. We striped all of the music besides a couple guitar tracks early in the song and redid everything else...

This was our first experiment with our new conversion system, the Burl Mothership. The funny story is that somehow our recording program became digitally cross-threaded with the original tracks... causing the song to play back at a much faster speed. We got so lost working on it that we actually didn't even realize until we later referenced the original track. Oops, Lua sounded like a chipmunk! It was actually really cool, but we decided to redo the entire thing at the correct speed. There is an almost finished speedy version somewhere on our hard drive. Benjamin tracked drums and synth (MS-20 mini, Oberheim OB-Xa and Studio Electronics ATC-Xi) and Brandon did all guitar layers after the intro/first verse.
