Chiqito (real name Acsai Attila) from Budapest is the latest artist to join the I'm A House Gangster ranks, with his four track 'History Of House' release. At just 26 years of age, it's a bold statement from the Hungarian producer, but one which he more than justifies across the four tracks with strong classic Chicago influences shin in through. History Of House and Ravers Hipsters track are characterised by jacking beats at faster tempos and twisted vocal samples, while Build It Up and Money go deeper and darker, but retain the funk and old school sounds.

Chiqito says the EP was influenced by the old school sound, with a focus on the House Gangster ethos of not pandering to current trends.

As with most House producers, Chiqito started out DJing and making music as a hobby before developing into something more serious when, at the age of 18, record labels started taking interest in his work. An initial signing to Colorswork Recordings paved the way for releases on Deeperfect (Stefano Noferini's label), Toolroom Records (Mark Knight) and Stereo Productions (DJ Chus). Support has flooded in with plays from Loco Dice, Carlo Lio, Alli Borem, Hector Couto, Richie Hawtin and DJ Sneak among many others, culminating in a number of high placing tracks in Beatport's sales charts.

The element of electronic music producers performing a live set has seemed to have lost its unique appeal somewhat in recent times. With many so called 'musicians' simply playing a pre-planned Ableton set up and doing very little in the way of actually making any music live. For some it has become too much of a novelty rather than a serious expression of music, though when it is billed as a 'Live 808 Set', that those enough in the know will surely take a little longer before making a decision about going.

Resident of the inimitable Sankeys, Jozef K, and Winter Son (one half of Ghosting Season), have been collaborating in such a manner for a while now. With Thomas pouring his melancholic heart out through the pulses of his beloved 808 and Joe keeping the groove rock steady as they go on the decks, it wasn't long after meeting that the pair began to produce original material. 'The Straw That Broke The Camel's Back' EP, released on Sasha's 'Last Night On Earth' imprint last year wholly encapsulated the general melancholic aura that producers from the rainy city having been laying out for decades and marked them out to us as a pairing definitely worth keeping an eye on. 

Fast forward to now with a series of well received EPs behind them and a fresh remix out now as part of singer/songwriter Ursa Minor’s new Earthquakes EP and we thought the time was right to nab their considerable talents behind the decks for an exclusive mix as part of our mix of the day series.

There are also new artists that have been invited to release on Drumcode for this compilation and others who are a staple in Drumcode's core family.
